Realtime Worlds the makers of the new massively Multiplayer game APB have gone into administration. They also released the Original crackdown on X360

Any thoughts, Always sad to see a company go under and what does this mean for the players of APB?

Did they really refer to them as Pioneering Dundee? Wow.

I never played any of their games. APB looked good and after playing crackdown, I know its a pile o shit to me so I couldn't really care about this. Still sad to see any dev close.

So does this mean APB is simply going to fade away and die? I never played it, but that seems a shame for the players who actually enjoyed it.
Don't worry, I'm sure all five people will soon find better things to do.

Well thats a shame. But maybe APB would have succeeded if the game actually had interesting things to do in it.

I loved Crackdown, and I never had a system strong enough for APB, but whatever. They were a good company, but their games never seem to sell very well, so I kind of saw this coming.

I'll miss them, but it isn't the end of the world, goodbye guys, R.I.P. Realtime Worlds.

I called it, a PvP only game with a sub fee and mediocre controls will not fly, and apparently it did not.

Makes sense in the Beta the controls/gameplay was shit with no sign of the devs doing anything about it(not the bugs everything in itself was shit aside form bugs). Could have been a good game, but RTW was just retarded with how it got managed, they just made a bad game, managed it poorly, and it killed them as thanks.

Sort of expected it would come to this. Sorry, guys, Crackdown was good but you mixed up target audiences with APB and it just didn't fly.
Rest In Peace, Realtime Worlds.
I wonder what Dave Jones'll do next.

When I played the beta for APB it looked really unpolished and from what I understand they didn't do much to fix it before the retail release.

:| Nice once, Realtime Worlds. First you let some other morons create a subpar sequel to Crackdown, and then you bomb out before you could even discuss with Ruffian about getting the rights back and try to make a proper sequel. APB seemed interesting, but I didn't see a lot a depth or interest in it.

Bleh...

There goes yet another MMO which tried to innovate. Which means more risk-averse developers, which in turn means more World Of Warcraft clones cluttering up the place. Not to mention that hundreds of people will probably lose their jobs. In the current economic climate.

Perfect.

Well that's a bit of a shame. Crackdown was a great game, and I really wish that they had been the ones making Crackdown 2.

Though from what I hear APB was pretty bad. Pity, an original idea for an MMO. They shall be missed.

I see an issue with the innovation of MMO's. Whenever they try to innovate they suck at it.

Well, APB was pretty abysmal. I tried the demo, and the controls were just god damn awful. Not to mention the matchmaking system.

Still a shame though, Crackdown was really awesome.

Wow, talk about dodging the bullet. Not sure if anyone remembers but i made a thread not long ago where i asked if the rumours about APB being dead were true, as i was going to purchase it myself! Glad i didn't though, as grim as that may sound...

I always had a feeling RTW would sink. Crackdown 2 was a shameless copypasta of Crackdown 1 and they've only produced mediocrity anyway. At least the situation isn't quite as dire as Southpeak Games. Mind you, all these small companies with no major financial backing are all doomed to obscurity anyway; they try to take a bigger bite of the corporate burger than they can handle. As a result, they suffer worse for it than the indie companies who take tiny bite-sized niche chunks, which means they end up with only marginal gains and losses.

...Anyone else feeling hungry after that?

RTW didn't actually make Crackdown 2, Ruffian did. RTW had nothing to do with Crackdown 2, they weren't even told it was being made.

Might care a bit more if I had been able to play the game for more than two hours since release.
