well, as far as I'm concerned every bit of polish they can fit in (within reason) is worth it.
The is the last entry in a stunning franchise but that means that this is their last chance (patches notwithstanding) to make the best game possible.

Am I a bad person for hoping that this would happen? XD

I don't have a problem with waiting up to 4 years for a game^^ but Episode 3 for example really test my patience^^

Trust me when I say this is a good thing. Like when ME2 was pushed forward to January 2010, January 2012 gives Bioware enough time to make ME3 a true successor to Mass Effect 3. I toatlly saw this coming and I'm glad they're goning to spend more time polishing it off.

Thankfully they're announcing the delay almost half a year ahead of time, unlike a lot of other game companies that have been doing it around a month before release.

Also, I'm also a bit glad since it looks like summer is going to strip my wallet dry and the holidays don't seem so pleasant for it either.

I see 2 general reactions here

The people who are fine with it, or happy that the game will be given more polish, because they have games to play in the meantime.

And the people who start of saying that they are upset, but quickly point out that in reality, it's good that the game will be given more polish, becasue they have games to play in the meantime.

Lesson to Devs: Don't release unfinished games that still need work. We are fine with you taking your time to do a good job.

Oh, Im mildly dissapointed, but think its encouraging in the long run, and kind of relieved that it will stagger my spending some.

Oh thank god, I was afraid I was going to have to choose between Mass Effect 3 and the (true) return of my favorite shooter, Battlefield 3

Still, I think delays this early on are nothing to worry about, small setbacks or underestimating how long it would take to finish the product. Plus, more time usually means a better product in the end, I think- and I will patiently wait as long as needed to see another fantastic entry to the ME series.

That's fine, we don't want to rush a game, especially one that's supposed to be an explosive end to one of the best trilogies of the current generation.

I'm okay with that. It gives me time to play around with Skyrim first and then when i'm done with that this will come out.

As much as I want Mass Effect 3, I was hoping the game would get delayed. More development time to make the game even better is fine with me. Right now I'm more interested to hear what Clint Mansell is doing with the soundtrack anyway.

I'm completely okay with this. Putting back the release date will allow me to finish another couple complete playthroughs as well as let them fine tune the game as a whole.

I guess this leaves the question... will game devs ever figure out a reasonable window to make a good game in? Or is "We're pushing it back" always be a sign that they're making a quality game?
For Blizzard it is option B.

For everyone else the answer is usually about two years.

Well, good thing they ain't rushing this one at least. Not sure this game is going to "conclude" anything, though. From my understanding from one of EA's press releases a while back, they want to continue Mass Effect indefinitely.

No problem, Bioware. I want to see ME3 done right and not rushed like DA2. And, like everyone else has been saying, I'll have Skyrim from November onward, I won't be lacking for something to play.

It's of no concern to me. If you've played one BioWare RPG, you've played them all.

Usually i would be upset by this, but with all the games I'll have to but at that time (Rage, ES5 etc.) i can wait. Especially if it means making the game better.
