For me, the primary reason to get an Xbox One over a PS4 is that PS4 is basically just PS3 with better graphics, whereas Xbox One actually tries to do new and interesting things. Of course, "hardcore gamers" have decided that everything it is trying to do sucks, but that's their problem, not mine.VG_Addict said:In my opinion, there is little to no reason to get a One over a PS4 unless you're a HARDCORE MS fan. The PS4 will probably have better games, and it's more powerful, while being cheaper. The One will also flop in the UK, at least at launch, because of the high price tag and the sponsorship with the NFL (I don't think too many people in the UK give a toss about American football). What do you think?
Lol, sounds like you decided when you picked your avatar for this forum. You're listing Kinect as a positive thing?Treeinthewoods said:Lots of good exclusives, good experiences with the 360, TV functionality and Kinect are the key reasons I am getting an Xbox One before a PS4.
Also I am more comfortable with Xbox controllers and I get to keep my gamer score, but those aren't really what I would call deciding factors so much as additional benefits.
And as icing on the cake I think more of the "hardcore" elitist crowd won't get an Xbox on principle so I won't have to deal with them until I pick up my PS4.
Lets see, the PS4 has the ability to share footage of your game, allow other players to watch as you play and assist you (neither of which I see alot of use for but still credit where due), you can start playing while an update is downloading and installing (service on demand), eventually they will bring all PS1/2 and 3 games to the console via streaming, oh and most importantly it's a gaming console.Evonisia said:Probably the biggest reason for my distrust of Sony is that innovation to them is a cruel and foreign concept, just increasing the PS3's capabilities, adding some Xbox 360 features and a completely useless share button is NOT innovative.
The avatar is a sign of laziness more than fanboy status. I quite like Sony, Nintendo and PC games as well.mad825 said:Lol, sounds like you decided when you picked your avatar for this forum. sir you made me smile XDTornadoCreator said:There are no programs for Football (actual football, where you kick a ball with your foot), Rugby, Tennis, Cricket etc. there's just apps for American "Football" (or pussy-rugby as I call it)
I'm pleasantly surprised at your attitude, it seems more and more people lately either treat the Xbox one as a sin against all gaming or have the attitude of a furious fanboy shilling for it. Someone who likes it and can come up with a rational argument (even if I don't share your view point) is sadly becoming rarer.Treeinthewoods said:The avatar is a sign of laziness more than fanboy status. Kinect games are fun, my wife and I really enjoy the Dance Central games and the workout games we have tried (Biggest Loser) were invigorating. Also I have a three year old I want to game with (and watch game) so Kinect is perfect for kid friendly games. She just doesn't have the controller skills yet, lol.
Basically the Xbox One is perfect not just for my "hardcore" gaming desires but for my families more casual needs. Everything I desire in the PS4 is available plus Kinect instead of Move? Easy choice.
God, now I do sound like a shill. For what it's worth I am still getting myself a PS4 sometime in 2014 and once my daughter is old enough to game more traditionally she will get a Wii U for her birthday (which I will play as much as her I hope). And I can totally see how other people don't want an Xbox, without my families desires factoring in I would probably get a PS4.
Well, I am hoping the gamer community in Kinectimals 2.0 or whatever other kid games we get will be a little different from the COD crowd, lol.NWJ94 said:I'm pleasantly surprised at your attitude, it seems more and more people lately either treat the Xbox one as a sin against all gaming or have the attitude of a furious fanboy shilling for it. Personally I was seriously offended by MS's earlier attitude about the console so I probably won't be buying one anytime soon, but I did have one question. You mention not having to deal with the Elitist crowd on Xbox, (which I can very much sympathize with), but don't you find the XBLA's reputation worse? I only ask because you mentioned it as being a good system for your daughter, but considering the reputation for how girls are treated on the XBLA I can't imagine her being drawn to it much as she grows older.
Dunno, maybe it's gotten a better of late, but I remember it being really, really bad in my time.
Hehe, nice, you sound like your going to make a great father for her. Thanks for the answer, if the community isn't that bad then it will probably work out for you.Treeinthewoods said:Well, I am hoping the gamer community in Kinectimals 2.0 or whatever other kid games we get will be a little different from the COD crowd, lol.NWJ94 said:I'm pleasantly surprised at your attitude, it seems more and more people lately either treat the Xbox one as a sin against all gaming or have the attitude of a furious fanboy shilling for it. When I am playing Halo 4 I often just join team games alone and I honestly don't think the community is that bad. Most people don't have public mikes on in the first place, the ones that do are usually pretty cool. Ass hats exist but it's really easy to mute them, I don't think Xbox Live is any worse than Battlenet or WoW. Your experiences may vary, I don't play too many other competitive multi player games.
As for my daughter being harassed, well that's why she is getting her own Nintendo. And years from now anyone who trolls her during a multiplayer match of Halo 7 or CoD 27 will get shot by her dad (I'm a camper for life).
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I was attempting some mild sarcasm with the "elitist" comment.
I wonder how much the receiver device is going to cost. It's rather amusing for them to boast about a feature, then sell it separately from the actual console. Brings back memories of the early 360 and Wifi.Treeinthewoods said:TV functionality and Kinect are the key reasons I am getting an Xbox One before a PS4.
