So what exactly was missed out of Drogo's realtionship with her? Speaking as someone who hasn't read the novels (never got round to it, i have been aware of them for quite a while though) i would like to see more of Drogo as a charcter since all he has done is grunt, rape and hump (sometimes at the same time) and is pretty much as one dimensional as a character gets.
That's about all there is to him. Initially he was a bit harder, though he does show Dany softness, but the only thing in his life besides grunting raping and humping is fighting.

I'm actually very impressed at how they are really streamlining the massive books and still getting almost everything right.
To give a direct example right off the start, on TV in the wedding consummation scene Dany says 'no' but Drogo just basically pushes her down and gets to it. In the book when she says 'no' Drogo takes a more gentle & comforting approach starting with a massage. After a good hour or so he asks her again "no?", and she replies "yes". So in other words by offering a comforting massage to the gift of pony (which is much more special in the book) Drogo earned the 'Got Consent' achievement instead of the plain old 'Rape' achievement as seen on tv. So from the start of their relationship while it still hurts her for a while she doesn't fear/hate him, like you would think from the TV.

Really? You have to transcibe every episode for the poor schmucks that cant afford HBO? If I worked for HBO I would be looking for a way to sue for Intellectual property theft. Even if there isnt a legal issue here does it really require 2 articles per episode? Or do the escapist writers get butt hurt if they have to share a By-line?
I actually Watch each Episode + read the Beginners Recap that susan usually does, It does point out something I may Have missed since I never read the books and love the show , Keep those articles coming I look forward to em everyweek

Then don't read the recap. Pretty simple, really.

All I know is that this article is going to be in the same junkpile as "I hit it with my axe" when the 10 mouthbreathers that you are spoon feeding finally lose interest. Susan I just think you are more talented than transcribing a tv show while throwing a couple of one-liners.
I enjoy you game reviews and feel this article is beneath you.

If they pace this right, then I think that in the next episode
Ned Stark is left a head shorter, and it made me hate George R R Martin even as I loved his books

Nope we got a little while before that happens (at least 2 or 3 episodes.) What is really bothering me is that Danny;s story is so much farther ahead of everyone else.

He's actually quite gentle with Dany when they're first married. He shows he actually cares about her happiness and general wellbeing, and it's that tenderness - something she's never really known in her life - that wins her over. We get none of that in the show, sadly. Then again, we don't get nearly enough of her backstory with Viserys, either, so perhaps it balances out.
And then he takes her from behind every night for months, while she cries into a pillow and contemplate suicide. Most people skip over that part in their recollection of Drogo and Dany. Dany flip-flops a lot on this issue, and while Drogo is more "gentle" on their wedding night in the books, after that the book and TV-show pretty much agree. And this way, Dany's growth is more linear and easier to show to the audience.
True, but in the TV she goes from crying to adoring him in a single episode. It just doesn't make much sense and weakens her character, in my opinion. Especially given that we never see anything particularly admirable about Drogo. (Because we don't really see him at all.) If we got to see how strong he was as a leader or warrior, we might be able to better understand why she finds herself drawn to him, but instead we get nothing at all.

If you don't enjoy it, it's certainly easy enough to avoid.

It's little wonder that Ser Hugh dies, he's wearing a wooly jumper sprayed silver. It's not even plastic chain maille a la Lord of the Rings Weta workshop stuff. Poor work HBO.
