Depending on your rig, I can recommend these games.

Low End -

X-COM
Wizardry 8

Middle Range -

Deus Ex
Morrowind
Gothic 1 and 2
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

High End -

Oblivion
The Witcher 1 and 2
STALKER 1, 2 and 3

KOTOR one and two are great, just don't finish the second one.
I've heard great things about Planescape Torment, but could never get into it.
Arcanum of magicka and steamworks is pretty good, Vampire the Masqurade Bloodlines is one of the best action RPGs, and that's all off the top of my head.

Lucky for you Bastion is only 15 bucks and comes out this Tuesday. Unlucky for ME because that happens to be the first day of school.

PS:T, shorthand for Why Aren't You Playing This Yet?

Planescape: Torment, in other words. Sure, it has some issues. It's also the single best story ever to be seen in a game. You should try it.

In fact, send a PM my way if you'd like a copy off GoG.

Eh, the only PC RPG I really played in recent memory was Neverwinter Nights 2

I liked it, though it was really, really buggy. Even after all the patches.

If you can put up with that, go nuts. It was really immersive for me.

Witcher 2, Neverwinter Nigbhts 2: Mask of The Betrayer expansion (if you can find a pack or something, might be a bit much having to buy both) Vampire: Bloodlines, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2, Planescape Torment.

Fallout 3 would probably be the closest to your taste, and it's dirt cheap.

For the rest.. you really need to tell us what sorts you like, but I highly recommend Deus Ex + high quality mod.

Oblivion isn't really that graphic intensive.

Grab one of the stutter fixes from TESNexus and you can run it on lowish settings on pretty much anything.
I have a cheap laptop with a Pentium and integrated graphics and still run it at 1280x720 with respectable FPS.
