Watch "Band of Brothers" and if you like that watch "The Pacific", utterly brilliant shows. Apart from that, I think the only show that hasn't been mentioned yet, probably because it's a really British TV show, "Ultimate Force". Stick to the first two series though, it gets dumb after that.

I just finished watching season 5 of Dexter and now have nothing to watch :( sooooooooo I was hoping you fine gentlemen from the lands of escapistmagazine.com would be able to share your T.V wisdom with me. My favorite series have been prison break, dexter, and battle star galatica. I'm not a big fan of anime. THANK YOU GENTLEMEN.
I don't watch much TV, but I myself have really enjoyed the following:

Lie To Me* (science, crime)
Scrubs (medical comedy)
House, M.D. (Medical)
Oz (prison)
Heroes (drama with "superpoers")

As far as I know Lie To Me and House are still on-going, Scrubs and Oz have both finished. I don't know anymore if Heroes is still going or not, it's started to just drag on and stagnate lately.

If someone mentions the sarah conner chronicles, don't listen to him, he's possibly also a drama queen himself and loves twilight.

That show is NOT terminator, it is a pathetic little disgusting grease blob that whines and bitches like a teenage girl compared to what was terminator.

No offense intended to any specific person who likes that show, but that show was a TERRIBLE drama queen.

Anyway, go watch the I.T crowd, it's pretty damn good.

Don't listen to the poster below, if you do you will most likely be lost about certain parts. Major stuff from the first season of the new series (Eccleston's Doctor) resonates all the way into the 4th season. Besides, Eccleston was a very good Doctor(4th on my list of favorite Doctors).

The thing is though, Doctor Who is a show that isn't for a casual television show watcher. To deeply get the show and understand everything that happens in it, you need to watch all the new series, first season onward(2005- ), and watch as much of the old series (1963-1989, movie in 1996) as you can.

Personally, in general, I would never recommend not watching a season of a show if you are getting into it. If someone recommends a show to me, I watch it, beginning to end. Twice I've taken skip a certain season or episodes of show advice, and both times I've ended up confused or lost about something that happened, and when I watched said told skipped episodes, my questions were answered.

Doctor Who beacuse it's addictive but start from the David Tennant era for the good stuff.

Anybody saying anything other than "The Wire" either hasn't seen it or has no idea what good TV is. The Wire is literally the best series ever made, ever.
