Sol Driven Train and Old Crow Medicine Show are some bands I've been playing recently. Although, U2 is the most recent since I just got No Line on the Horizon the other day.

I've recently gotten into a "Gypsy Punk" band called Gogol Bordello because of a friends recommendation because he knows about my near fetishistic love of Flogging Molly, and while i don't the similarites, they have some pretty good songs, my favorites being "Undestructable" and "Wanderlust King".

Also, I saw Cage The Elephant on here, and they're a perfectly good band, but i saw them on The Late Show a couple days ago, and i had to go to wikipedia to see if the lead singer had some sort of disorder, because he looked like he was having a spasm the whole time. Just a little nit-picking, but it sorta turned me off.

Black Tide. Two members are still in high school but they are very unique in their style.

The last band I really feel in love with was the Foo Fighters, I know they're pretty well known but until a few months ago I never really listened to them, which is sort of funny because I've been a Nirvana fan for ages. But they're really great, I don't know how I lived without them.
What I would give for an afternoon of just being able to shoot questions at Dave Grohl. Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Probot, Tenacious D, Queens of the Stone Age...The guy has had a hand in so many great things, and he's such a talented musician. I'm a total fanboy.

...okay, that claim might need some clarification, 'cos the songs I've heard from them all sound (a) the same, and (b) like a combination of every other heavy rock and glam metal band ever.

Right, stuff I've recently got into:

Maximum The Hormone - thanks to someone on here, actually. Apparently they did some anime theme song or something, so you probably all know them. I don't care for anime, so I didn't, although I like similar Japanese bands so I dunno how I didn't stumble across them.

Noisettes - their first album was good but generally passed me by. The second didn't interest me until I heard the current single, which is awesome. Bought the album because it was cheap, turns out it's really good.

Nerf Herder - actually, I've been listening to them for ages, so we'll call this a rediscovery thanks to Parry Gripp's silly song-a-week thing. YouTube is your friend, 'Chimpanzee Riding A Segway' is a good place to start.

You like New Pornographers? Cool.
Maximum the Hormone did (they've done other anime, but this is probably their most famous) the opening and closing themes for season 2 of the Death Note anime. Quite a good band in my opinion.
-I recently (i.e. about a month ago) listened to my first Beatles song (that wasn't used in a promotion for something). I listened to "Here Comes The Sun" and am now a big Beatles fan.

-I've always like Alice in Chains but have been listening to "the Essential Alice in Chains" Cd non-stop. Specifically disc 2(that's the disc with some live stuff and remixes and songs that are good but never got as popular as Man in the Box or Rooster).

-I liked them about a year ago and stopped listening to them, but started again about a month ago and now I really like them. I'm talking about the Doors. I think the Doors are one of the all time greatest bands.

Same here, I'm still amazed he's SO talented. I mean, in the Tenacious D movie he played SATAN! I had no idea he did until the Credits, he did such a good job at it. But yeah, I'm a total fan boy too.

He played the same role in the "Tribute" music video, and he also did all the drums and backup guitar for the Tenacious D album.

Probably because that glam is pretty old and since these guys are recent and sound equipment has improved its probably the reason they sound different to normal glam in my view.

yeah i know, he's really good. On the Foo Fighter's debut album he did all instruments except for, I think, one part.

Most of you will probably have heard these, they aren't exactly new. But I've just got into Nightwish and Evanescence, and they both rock.
