Gotham City Impostors. Go ahead, chalk it up to me not knowing any better when it comes to online-focused FPS games, or not having a laptop powerful enough to run any that use the microtransaction system as a way of maintaining their "free-to-play" status. I still think it's an entertaining take on the genre, and I do enjoy how the game seems devoted to making camping a short-term strategy at best.

Honorable mention to Driver: SF, to prove I'm not completely escaped from the court of popular opinion.

I was extremely disapointed with this game. It felt like DC thought that the Arkham games were so good, they could slap the Batman license on anything an it would sell!

I did, somewhat hesitantly, try the game, and couldn't help thinking, how does the Batman license make this any better? As much as I avoid tags or clichés, it does seem, in fact, to be Team Fortress Lite.

I picked up Deus Ex:HR during one of the many recent sales. Loved it. It's the first game in a long while that's made me actually think about what I ask or choose. The ending decision was pretty hard to make. I went for the stricter aug regulations and behind the scenes manipulation even though it goes against every single bit of my political viewpoint. It made me wonder whether it really is better for some things to be controlled from behind the curtain.

SSX. Never played any of the series before. However it did get good reviews everywhere and it was on sale. I had some left over credit at gamestop and went for it. I still haven't put it down. It's like this snowy gaming nirvana.

Made it through the Painted World as well. First time I was just gunning for the exit but I think I'm gonna go back through it today to loot the place and kill the optional boss. Because...SURPRISE! I'm stuck again! This time it's traversing the outer ledges in Anor Londo with the black knight snipers bearing down on me!

Might want to rephrase that. Mods around here can be very strict.

OT: I am loving Fortune Summoners: Secret of the Elemental Stone, even though I was doubting it would be any good.

Deus Ex Human Revolution. I had never played the original. I had no idea what the game was even about, didn't care for it when it launched last year. Picked it up with Enslaved for cheap a couple of days ago. I fucking love this game right now.
Right in the boat with this guy. Never played any other prior to this and was mostly worried that my comp wouldn't handle it. It has though, WONDERFULLY. I get a bit of slow down in Detroit but the game is so much fun. All the split paths you can take and the neat upgrades, the e-mails (great to see the Nigerian Scam E-mails are prevalent in the future) and the random bits of comedy, seriously, there were two IT guys who kept putting Animal Husbandry Porn on a guys computer.
Haha I remember that bit. I love how they include all those pranks in the emails. Although I wasn't hesitant to buy Deus Ex, so that doesn't count. Erm...

I don't really have many, because I usually do my research before I buy.

Bioshock is probably the most likely. I mean, I knew it would be "good" as in it had good graphics, gameplay and story, according to others. That didn't mean I would like it though.

Picked it up for $9 in a sale, beat it in about 2 days. I am now in the process of doing a second playthrough without Vita Chambers to pick up that achievement.

Sorry, I downloaded it. Off Xbox Live. Spent like a bunch of points. Legit purchase.

If I seem sarcastic, I'm really not. I actually did download it off the Marketplace.
I figured you did, that's why I warned you. The mods around here can be pretty zealous.

I would be... hesitant to get the other STALKER games. They don't match the quality of the first even closely. Instead, try installing mods to add a few things is my advice it you want to freshen it.
I'm aware that Clear Sky is considered worst of the bunch

I'm going to take it as a challenge :p (can't go wrong if I can get it for 2.5-5?)
I actually liked Clear Sky. Sure, in terms of story and creepy atmosphere, it's definitely the worst of the bunch, but not by much. Plus, the faction system ensures you'll have much more action when compared to the rest, and it let's you learn the motivations of the different characters a little more.

What I'm trying to say is that it's not the crap-tastic generic shooter hardcore Stalker fans say it is, it's just... different.

Edit: Oh right, I should probably answer the OP's question:

Armored Core V

Now, I love Mech games. I grew up playing Mechwarrior 2 (Still the best Mech game ever created, SUCK IT AC!)

But I tried Armored Core 4 as my first true Armored Core game, and I hated it. Nothing was explained (Primal Armor, wtf?), the controls sucked, and the UI was terrible.

But Armored Core V fixed all that, and now I'm having a blast!

Um, don't know what else to say about it, multiplayer is epic, and Mech fans should DEFINITELY give this a try, right now!

Alan Wake, god that game was amazing and now I'm kind of suffering from withdrawal of good story-driven games

Mass Effect 3. I was hesitant after the day one DLC thing but in the end I caved in. My willpower is not so good.

Hmm, nothing really comes to mind. If I'm hesitant about a game I just don't purchase it.

I'd disagree with you here. Call of Pripyat is a very decent game and even surpasses SoC in a few areas, in my opinion. Clear Sky on the other hand is indeed quite subpar, mostly because of the silly difficulty.

Rayman Origins

Rayman, on the other hand, I picked up mainly because I've been jonesing for a good platformer, and it was only $30 for the PC version. Very fun game, I'm glad I made that purchase, too.
Same here. The only real problem I have with it is the lack of online multiplayer. But why can't I stop trying to get 100% on all the levels? It's maddening.

Catherine. I've waited months in the vain hope I'd see it for 30 bucks somewhere, but it's stayed consistently expensive. I finally bit the bullet and picked up for almost full price a few days, and ended up loving the puzzle gameplay, which I honestly thought I might just be slogging through for the more interesting (to me) story and roleplaying.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Fun shooting segments, beautiful environments, pretty good action (albeit, repetitive).
It's a rare game that makes me laugh. But the writing and fourth wall jokes are very good.
And the multiplayer is pretty intense to boot.

I was put off Dead Rising 2 for a while as i believed it was going the way of most sequels to a five year old game. It was only when i played it round a friend's how did i truly love it and picked it up for myself.

Oh, trust me, its gets much worse than that. Not just talking in terms of Anor Londo as well, youve barely gone through a third of the game.

Whoa, I'm really only a third of the way through? Wooooooow. I'm gonna be screaming in the future, I'm sure, but I'm loving it. It really is empowering to slowly chip away at Lordran on the back of hundreds of deaths. That said...I'm not doing a NG+ for a long time.
