So has anyone else watched the more recent episodes of Red vs. Blue? Because I just caught up, and... holy crap.

They've finally done it. I mean the first 5 seasons (the original 100 episodes) were hilarious, but it's almost a shame that one has to watch through them to get to this awesome stuff. The show now has just as many fist-pumpingly awesome moments as it does gut-bustingly funny ones, and I simply couldn't stop watching all the way from Reconstruction to the end of Revelation. I was a bit hesitant once they started using CG, but it resulted in some of the most awesome stuff I've seen in a long while. I mean dang, this show is better than it ever could have hoped.

Anyone else seen the recent episodes? Anyone else blown away?

Fuck yes. Alpha blew MY FUCKING MIND. And the new animation skills are pretty damn cool. Anyone know if they're working on a new season or not?

I sure as hell hope they are.

I absolutely loved it. I especially liked the new special effects, and the slightly more dramatic turn.

Yeah the newer RvB episodes have been some of the best in the entire series.

Seasons 1-5 were amazingly funny, but now they have set down the lore that they want to use they are using everything they have to explore it.
The CG stuff was (I initially thought) overused a little, I mean they had one of them kick the Guilty Spark-Alpha which wasn't super necessary, but ever since the fight between
Tex and everyone else
it has really been ramped up as a show in terms of quality.

The next season looks to be pretty damn amazing being set in
Church's mind and within Halo:Reach's game world
and the ending of the last season brought a nostalgic smile back to my face (I'm sure you can all guess why)

I stopped watching at the point (in the original series) where they started time travelling, not through lack of interest, simply because I got busy with other stuff and never got around to going back.

I've heard of the new stuff with different names - Reconstruction etc - but I have no idea what any of it is. Has the show changed completely?

I don't think it will take place during then becuase

it is his memories, while its cool he knows what will happen, most likely it will take place out of his memories and he will get out and find tex. Though I hope next season moves at a bit faster pace.

No its still the same old RvB, but now it has a serious storyline in the sense that it gets serious at moments while keeping the good old lol moments, the ending of Revelation and Reconstruction without spoiling, are freaking amazing!

It's the same old RvB that you know and love, but it's gotten better. As in it's not just funny, it's actually good. It's one of those perfect comedies, the kind that makes you laugh like mad, then a few minutes later it's pulling some seriously dramatic plot twists and HOLY CRAP THE ACTION SCENES!!!!!

Seriously, it's good. Start where you left off: trust me, you won't want to skip ahead. It would be confusing and you would miss out on too much good stuff. Also make sure not to miss Recovery 1 and Out of Mind. Two short series that take place parallel to the original series, and they are vital.

Most people who keep tabs on Red vs Blue's site knew that this was going to happen. Before the season came out they announced their new employee Monty Oum, who created things like Haloid and Dead Fantasy. That aside, it was still surprising when the warthog busted through the wall, the first big CG scene.

I quite liked the recent episodes too. It had some incredible action scenes (specifically in season 8), and still seems to be infinitely quotable. I find the recent trend to stories of a more serious note odd, but the series seems to have kept up the quality, so I still watch it.

Oh, that explains it. I thought the movements and such were reminiscent of Haloid. I hadn't realized it was actually Monty Oum doing it. As long as he doesn't bring his personal fantasies into play. Seriously, that crap at the end of Haloid was weird.

I will never complain about a good comedy series ramping up the story quality. As long as it remains funny, I'm all for it. Red vs. Blue has done this amazingly, making for a simultaneously epic and hilarious series, so I'm in full support of the story emphasis. Way I see it, a great story will only ever make anything better, provided they don't lose sight of their original charm.
