Dungeon Defenders

if minecraft is herion in video form then dungeon defenders is cocaine.

Oblivion. I see masses of hate for this game. Frankly, I kinda prefer it to Skyrim.
You sure you didn't confuse this with the most overrated game thread ? Oblivious got these amazing review scores (I know that means nothing, but still) and it's a steaming pile.

I'll go with Knights of the fucking Chalice.
No, I didn't. Doesn't matter that Oblivion got amazing review scores, have you SEEN the amount of hate people have for this game and constantly convince you that it's worthless to have unless on PC?

I was thinking of mentioning that but I don't think it's under rated. It got decent reviews and sales. Some people have criticised it unfairly but I think it's just a vocal minority. They just get away with it because the game doesn't have a big fan base, and some of the criticisms are somewhat valid. Also it came out very close to Skyrim, so it was always going to get compared to it. Getting compared to an Elder Scrolls game is a pretty rough deal, especially for a new IP.

OT: It's kind of hard to choose. Most stuff that's deserved attention recently has got it. It's not like stuff has flown under the radar too much because of being put up against huge releases. Most things have been pushed back to avoid that. I guess Ridge Racer Undounded should have gotten more attention. At first glance it looks like just another generic arcade racer, but it has a really robust and deep track creator to it. As a whole though, the game isn't mind blowing. It's far from an essential purchase.

It deserves the hate it gets. Really is a utterly boring and terrible game. Shitty combat, 'story' elements, rpg mechanics, copy pasted locations.. I don't care what type of rape sex mods you throw on there.
Well, I play the PS3 version so I don't really have many options by way of mods. And my thanks for proving my point. Even if it did get amazing review scores, the general consensus is that it's an awful game, from what I've seen. I personally think it's a great game, which is why I said it(though I edited my post as the OP said recent as in 5 years, and Oblivion is 6 years old).

That screenshot is Planescape Torment if I'm not mistaken. Or was is supposed to be?

OT:
Don't know. I cant find any games on my PC that Id call underrated. Undersold maybe... *cough* Psychonauts *cough*. The Sam and Max series from Telltale are awesome, Cave Story too. None of them are underrated though and none of them are recent. Mass Effect 3 gets too much hate imo. sure the ending is bad (haven played extended cut yet, DLing now.) but the game as a whole, especially as seen in the trilogy is beautiful.

I'd have to say Aquaria.

It manages to combine most of my favorite things about games:
1. A charming world with tons of fun little side-activities/discoveries
2. A sense of grandeur and mystery about the world, and a feeling of adventure and exploration
3. Moments of pure horror
4. Actual challenge, without being just frustrating

The story is moderately interesting, but probably the weakest part of the game. The music and artsyle are gorgeous, the gameplay is fun and interesting (especially the singing mechanic), and the world is just amazing. And the fact that this entire 40-something hour game was made almost entirely by just two people is even more impressive.

People I know who played it really liked it, but most people I know never played it. Maybe they think it's some kind of casual girly thing, but it really isn't.

Loved playing Kingdom of amular too...real shame about the company going bust especially since it was there first game.

Another game i enjoyed was Divinity 2 Dragon Knight saga. But i think it came out around the time dragon age origins did and was overshadowed by it. Well the ego Draconis version of Divinity 2. Dragon Knight saga was added episode content and a reworked ego Draconis.
Another on the Kingdoms of Amalur, I am really hoping there that someone buys the IP and make a new a better sequel.

Shut up already, let me dream...
