the star fist series by daniel cragg and david shermin.

the books chronical the events that involve the marines of 3 platoon, company l, 34 fleet initial strikie team as they go to varius worlds in human space putting down revolts, giving humanitarien aid and what ever else marines do. now while this may sound genaric and uninspired, keep in mind this was ritten by two vietnam veterans. daniel cragg spent 4 years as an infintryman in vietnam an david sherman was a u.s. army intaragator. the books are wonderfully written, full of humor and have likable, well characterized characters.

I found it to be a lot like a children's fantasy book. Though a lot more... er... boring. I stopped in the middle of Curse of the Gloamglozer. I just couldn't get into it.

Everyone's own opinion, right?

The hungry cities chronicles is my favourite series of books ever, and of those four the first one Mortal Engines is probably the best. Think the British Steampunk apocalypse. Also cities roam around on big wheels...eating other cities...hence the name...hungry cities (God what shit was Phillip Reeve smoking when he came up with that). But they're a great sci-fi read from a great author.

The edge chronicles series.

Definitely, the edge chronicles are some of the best books I've ever read.

I'd recommend the Harry Potter series to everyone, and I'd recommend a smack to the head for not having read it already.

Also, The Way of Shadows [http://www.thewayofshadows.com/books/] is awesome.

The Zombie Survival Guide

Written by Max Brooks in 2003 this books is a tongue-in-cheek manual on how to survive a potential zombie threat. The book is quite immersive and after the 40 page you will have the sudden urge to buy that machette "just in case". The last pages of the book are blank and the author has already filled out an example of what should be in them, and that is any movement in the zombie situation, a covered up news report, strange quarantine because of a virus and horrible slaugters in small cities. The book is about 270 pages and is the most entertaining read that I and probably you, will ever read. The book does not joke around about the zombie apocalypse, the fourth wall is never broken and there is even "solid" historical evidence at the end of the book. The book was published I believe by Three Rivers Press.

By the way, I just wrote that by memory, I have read the wiki article many times and have memorised it.

There is also World War Z. Written by the same person they seem to go in pair. The book is basically a fictional story about zombies taking over.

also the Z in World War Z is pronounced as ZED, not ZEE and that was from Max himself

Basically anything by Neil Gaiman. Neverwhere, American Gods, Good Omens, they're all very good.
