Xbox live has one for like a $1, it is call "try not to fart". Your some dude usually on a hot date and you have to play a simon like game to hold in farts. for the first hour it is hilarious, then it just dies and you will want to rethink life.

If you like the idea of an action based rougelike, I recommend The Binding of Isaac. It's deeply disturbing but the core gameplay is fun and addictive. I probably got more hours out of that five dollars than I have with any other purchase I have ever made.

It's not for everyone but if it's for you, you will love it.

On the XBL indie games section lies a game called Tempura of the Dead. It's about the president of the United States teaming up a samurai in order to take out a zombie invasion.

Zombies are overdone, sure, but it's still the best three dollars I've spent.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2, if you were thinking of actually buying a cheap game.

Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII are like three bucks for both on Steam. They're both pretty good times.

Im a AAA console gamer at heart but i do love going on steam and playing some cheap indie games on my laptop

if you like tycoon/management games but dont mind bad graphics then prison architect is a really good game. You basically build a prison and manage it. The main aim is to house as many prisoners as you can and try to stop them from rioting. you can build workshops and actually make a profit from your prison. Your first few batches of prisoners are easy to manage but as you try to expand it gets a bit hectic.

Id also recommend kerbal space program, basically you build a space ship and fly to other planets. the building is pretty indepth and you can manage the separation of individual sections

You've probably already heard about FTL and Papers, Please already.
But there's a mention just in case.

There was a game called Suguri Acceleration X or something like that for 6 bucks on psn.
accidentally got it, but it wasn't so bad. Plus it was only 6 bucks.

Jamestown, FTL, Noitu Love 2, Dust An Elysian Tail, the 3 Carpe Fulgur games.

Also Gun Girl 2, it's freeware but quite good, think Cave Story + Dead Rising.

GOG has an indie promo going. The catch is that you have to pick five games.

http://www.gog.com/high5

Torchlight is $2. Amnesia - Dark Descent is $4. However, I should hand in my hipster card now because I don't really know much about the rest. Can anyone recommend any others?

EDIT

Also, Antichamber on Steam. Total mind screw. But good fun.

Bionic Commando (not the Rearmed ones) sold like rancid dog turds, but it was a lot of fun IMO. Should be able to find it in bargain bins for 5$ or so.

Blood Dragon is on sale this week for $7.50 on XBL. Such an amazing title!

Dunno how this translates in British pounds (if you are British).

EDIT: Just checked amazon.com. $2-3 for Bionic Commando.

Better than most official Sonic games, even discounting the notoriously bad ones. Seriously good game, though the wall running takes some getting used to at first.

Dat tunnel boss.

Katawa Shoujo I gave it a go and liked it which surprised me you should try it and if you hate it no big deal as its free anyway.

Cheapish ones I have enjoyed recently are Guacamelee, Divekick, Fly me to the moon, The walking Dead (telltale), Skullgirls and Darkstalkers Resurrection.

Thomas Was Alone.

Think I paid just over £1 for it and it's one of my all-time indie favourites. Amazing how much you can come to like little rectangles.

I especially love the final boss due to how it flips that certain thing you usually see.

Yeah, that was surprisingly intense. The fight before that was one of the most awesomely silly things I've ever seen, though.

Awesomenauts. It's less than $3.50 on Steam right now, and is actually free for this week, so you can try it out now if you want. It's a side-scrolling MOBA that's more about twitch skills than planning and strategy, although it has a surprising amount of depth for how accessible it is. Also, it has pretty much the greatest theme music ever.

Warzone 2100. RTS with a great storyline, persistent units and bases and a tech tree that's pretty crazy. It's also free which is the best kind of cheap :)
