A friend has recently joined the 360 club and we are looking for more games to play together. So far we have played through Gears of War 1 & 2 and Burnout Paradise and now looking for our next venture.

As my mind seems to be drawing a complete blank I thought why not see what you kind folks can suggest.

A couple of things to keep in mind; not Call of Duty / Battlefield - preferably something co-op where we can just mess around, like doing the challenges on Burnout. Only thing I can really think of at the moment is Red Dead Redemption, which I have, but he doesn't seem too keen on the idea.

Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I'll give you three. There's more, but them's my favorites.

Left 4 Dead Series--great pieces of entertainment, in particular when you have more folks to tease and taunt.
Resident Evil 5--entertaining enough with a partner. Horrible on your lonesome.
Castle Crashers--in this Taffer's opinion the best Arcade game on LIVE

.. there's Halo 3 of course and a score of competitive shooters, as well as the Transformers game (that I have not tried). All in all I think you'll find something that suits your purpose.

Oh.. and how could I forget: Splinter Cell, Conviction. Best enjoyed with the Archer player having a Whiskey and the Kestrel player some Vodka. Good Times... Good Times.. *looks about shifty eyed*

Left 4 Dead we have done on PC
Resident Evil 5 we already played and finished.
Castle Crashers does look very good actually, wasn't sure about how long it would last though.

Good start though; keep 'em coming :)

I ended up editing my post with another suggestion :D

There's also Dead Rising 2 hitting the shelves and Batman, Arkham City. While Akrham City hasn't had it's Multiplayer focus revealed, COOP is the one I am putting my bets on.

Castle crashers is somewhat long lively. I've played through it twice and am considering giving it another shot. It's hilarious, it's well made and it has a catchy tune that will eventually follow you outside the gaming room. Though that's just personal opinion, really.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is supposed to be good as well, but I can't vouch for that. Got myself the Trial and am waiting for a chance to give it a try.

Castle Crashers'll keep you going for a long time. Played to it about 3 times.

Gears of War has great co-op, I think.

Borderlands maybe? It's cartoony, you can go dick around if you want, as well as doing the missions set.
Yeah I've been playing Borderlands on and off since release and just about to finish off Secret Armory. Love the game but my mate doesn't seem to like the idea of it for some unknown reason. I may have to push this idea some more.

Another upcoming COOP game would be BRINK and Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Both games this Taffer and her COOP Comrade are looking forward to. Hrrm.. Nevermind Brink, that seems to have a later release date on the 360 than on PC. Well. What do I know.

If you're using separate 360's, you can't go wrong with Saints Row 2. You can do the entire game co-op, including all the mini-games.

there is army of two the 40th day, really good if you two are good at communications and teamwork.

COD WaW has a really good co-op mode. it's good fun as long as you don't play on the hardest difficulty.

transformers WFC is ok for co-op think of gears without a cover system.

then there is saint's row 2, mercenaries 2, 50 cent blood on the sand and any halo or C&C red alert 3.

I wouldn't recommend red dead redemption for two player co-op just because there aren't too many missions and i think they are meant for more to be played with more than two people.

I second these. Army of Two (at least, the first one, havn't played the second one) had a fun co-op campaign, but felt short to me.

World at War, also fun, and a whole lot of replayability in the form of nazi zombies (think Gear's horde; if you liked that, chances are you'll like this).

War for Cybertron also has great co-op for the campaign, and Escalation mode (again, think horde). The only downside is no local multiplayer, so you'll need Live, but you sound like you're doing that already.

Think more... Gears, but the cover system is replaced with a high mobility, extra weapons panic/mobility mode. If that makes sense. You'll still find creative ways to use cover though, like slipping around corners and such. In my opinion, the firefights are more frantic and face-paced in WfC than Gears because there is no pressure to 'get down low and go go go' if you want to survive. more like, 'fill that fucker with lead' with vehicle mode is a means to move around quickly and has backup weaponry.

Anyway, whatever you get, have fun with your friend. I had a shit-ton of fun with my mate playing through the Gears 2 campaign on insane and can't wait for Gears 3 next April

There I was led to believe Army of Two was bad... should I change my mind?

You should probably reconsider. i would agree that if you play army of two ( either one) on single player, it's not as fun. however army of two co-op, local or otherwise, is just loads of fun. it's cover system is a bit weird at times but very serviceable. also the campaign provides many opportunities for teamwork and tactics (or at least something resembling tactics).

Also resident evil 5 is pretty good for co-op as well. you have the story mode and mercenaries mode for many hours of enjoyment.

Get borderlands. It's absolutely huge! Then get the add on packs. Great for co-op.

Halo reach, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier are all good choices for upcoming games.
