Hey there escapists. I'd like to ask you to recommend a game to me. You see, I'm finding it harder and harder to get into a game. It's rare that a game will make me want to finish it. Sure, I've finished MoH, Red Dead Redemption and Fable 3 all fairly recently but I had to really push myself to do so. I remember FFX, it was the first Final Fantasy game I'd played. It grabbed me. I think at one stage I had a few save games at over 40 hours each just because I felt I could level up better. Now days it seems games do very little to distract me from the fact it's usually go to x place, kill y monster for z object to complete an objective. Now I hate to sound like a whinger but I want more than that. I want a deep game that will open my mind and get me thinking. So please, if anyone here can suggest such a game, I would be forever grateful. Cheers!

If you have a PS2, get Shadow of the Colossus.

Otherwise I'd suggest the Mass Effect games.

If you have a decent PC I'd also suggest The Witcher.

Tried TES:Morrowind? A massively in-depth game from before the era of the dreaded quest marker, so exploration and puzzle-solving are necessary for success. You can pick up the GotY edition for under 10 quid too.

Trust me you'll be entertained for hours

But also you should try Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
And if you need all out bloody awesome fun get Devil May Cry 1, 3, and 4 (Not 2 considering Capcom didn't make it)

Download Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

You'd thought a Tombraider game could be this much fun.

Dwarf Fortress, the latest version, adventure mode. Seriously, if you can start as a peasant, survive a month while doing quests for villagers, you are an overman among men. Which means you'll probably die eleven hundred bajillion times before that.

if ya got a ps3 then Demon's souls simply because you'll get so annoyed ya won't want the game thinking it beat you. Valk chronicle or Fallouts are nice big games that draw you in.

The Mass Effect series (if you have an Xbox 360 or PC), both games have a fair amount of variety in their gameplay and give you a lot to think about, as decisions you make can have large consequences (this is especially true if you play through Mass Effect 1 first as decisions you make get carried over), even resulting in deaths of your companion characters in certain circumstances.
There is a lot to explore and a lot of different speech options that can effect the game, meaning that you have reason to play through the game at least a couple of times.
