Been looking for some decent horror films and just bought Drag Me To Hell as i've been told it's really good (though they also said the ending is a bit of a disappointment) and want to get a few others. Not really looking for slashers like I Know What You Did Last Summer, Nightmare on Elm Street and that sort of things, classic as they are. i'm looking for something more like Hellraiser, Cube Trilogy, Creep, something a bit different. can be old or new but needs to be good and scary.
any suggestions?

You should try watching Event Horizon if you haven't seen it already.
It is a Sci-Fi Horror. And brilliant. Another Sci-Fi Horror that is pretty good it The Thing.
Well, that is all that comes to mind for now.

I agree, classics are highly overrated.

The only horror movie to actually scare me was The Descent, so maybe give that a try.

Have you tried Paranormal activity? Its not the scariest film as such, but it will give you a few sleepless nights if you get into it.

I have bad news, mate. I don't know any really good horror movies, but the reason I clicked on this link was to tell you, no matter what, not to watch Drag me to Hell. It's horrible. Like most modern horror movies, it uses bits of humour to break up the monotony and make you drop your guard, but the parts intended to be scary made me laugh all the same. Evil gypsy curse = dead cell-phone battery. Yes, terrifying. I suggest you get drunk (if you're old enough) or high (if that's legal where you live) with some mates and watch it as a comedy.

Seconded. Especially if you've ever had any weird shit happen to you.

On the other hand do not in any circumstance try Paranormal Entity. It sucks worse than some sort of super vacuum cleaner.

How long before Furburt suggests Evil Dead?

Try REC.

Starts out as a pretty standard Cloverfield/Blair Witch take on the zombie genre, but the end...

Fuck, shit me right up and horror doesn't normally bother me.

Evil Dead 2!

It is actually quite scary. And it's directed by the same fellow who directed Drag Me To Hell.

However, while it's not technically a horror film, the scariest film I have ever seen without a doubt is Epic Movie Alien. Seriously, watch if you haven't.
wasn't Evil Dead 2 a spoof of Evil Dead, even though it had the same cast and stuff? i thought it was funny, anyway

Hostel were OK, nothing special, Death Proof was meh, Grindhouse...not heard of. Braindead...AWESOME, DO like zombie films, 28 Days was a bit slow, Weeks was better, Dawn of the Dead and all that i've seen a lot

I haven't seen the second one yet. Is it scarier or just better movie-wise?

REC is the Spanish Version. Quarantine is the American remake.

HAHAAH about 30 seconds apparently. I personally found The Ring to be pretty friggen scary. Plus Naomi Watts is smokin in that movie. The Blair Witch Project is pretty hit and miss. It scared me but I know lots of people who found it pretty boring, which I understand. The Myst is decent right up to the WORST ENDING EVER. Somebody mentioned "The Descent". I wouldn't recommend it though. The first half is pretty incredible but the end just gets completely stupid. Not only does it throw the creepy atmosphere out the window, it just makes absolutely no sense and pissed me off royally.

Shutter island isn't exactly a horror movie but its pretty creepy in some points. The ending is a bit of a punch to the balls but I think it worked out pretty well.

Can't go wrong with the Exorcist either.

Edit - OH YEAH 28 days later for sure. How could I miss that. 28 weeks is pretty scary but also quite stupid, keep that in mind.

I'm going to throw Darkness out there. I loved it. I'll also add yet another recommendation for Event Horizon. Although, the part that really made me jump in that movie, was

right near the beginning, when the fucking door opens. It doesn't even look like a door, it's more like a section of the wall just collapses incredibly suddenly. Made me jump so fucking high. >:
