Recommend DualShock 4 (PS4) cable? Or alternative?

Sup dogs. I bought the charging (and data) cable with my Dualshock 4 controller to play on PC. The cable was the basic Playstation one at Best Buy. It worked fine for about a month, but now the cable constantly falls out of the controller. I can kind of get it to work, but it won't do. I'm playing on PC at the moment. I went with DualShock 4 because I will buy a PS4 for Bloodborne in March. I've been an Xbox kid since Halo: CE, and your Playstationey ways confound me.

So is there a good cable that won't give me this problem? Or should I go wireless? I tried a Blu-tooth adapter, but returned it because it was spotty. But I got it from Office Depot, and I know better than that. Would a proper Blu-tooth adapter give me super-reliable wireless on PC? My old Xbox 360 controller had excellent connection. I need advice from someone wise in the ways of Playstation. Thanks!

I tried searching but there was too much unrelated stuff to look through.

The micro USB plug is way too small and flimsy for regular controller use. I use my PS3's Dualshock 3 and Motioninjoy on my PC and even the bigger mini USB plug wiggles 15 degrees to one side. I haven't had disconnection issues, but it does worry me somewhat.

The Office Depot bluetooth adapter probably wasn't the issue, though you can try another. I found this link [http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2429965,00.asp] to PCmag about hooking up a DS4 to a PC. You could try one of those USB adapters (which cost $60!) or use the DS4tool they mention with Bluetooth. It looks a lot cleaner and easier to use than motioninjoy.

Another thing to try is hot gluing the cable to the controller. Hot glue should be able to be easily peeled from the controller body and, if you pile it up, might even form a nice contour to keep the plug from wiggling and bending. Just keep the plug in the port and layer some glue over it with the cord at the correct angle, wait for it to cool and repeat until satisfied.

Also, your plug might be bent beyond repair. I'd say get a new USB micro B cable, but go on Amazon, Monoprice or somewhere that won't stiff you for $10+ on a 6ft cable, when you can get a 10 ft (or your choice of length, or two cables) for less than that shipped. Monoprice's quality is just as good as (or better than) the expensive junk in brick and mortar stores, but I'm sure you can find something good at other places, too.

For all things USB related I use Amazons own "Amazon Basics" range, cheap and even the micro ones are fairly solid. Generally always get them reasonably cheaply as there are few benefits to paying for more, heard good things about cables from "monoprice" in the US in this regard.

Buying a Sony or Microsoft cable is just letting them rummage through your wallet for no real benefit, just avoid the cheapest pound shop kind of stuff as they have nowhere near the recommended number of insertions (which few do anyway but they are even worse).

Great answers oh my brothers, thank you. I'm still not sure which way I want to go, but this gives me some options. I may start with trying to fasten the micro USB to the controller, maybe by buying a hot glue gun, and see how far that gets me. Now that I'm used to it, I like the DualShock 4 a lot. Probably the only thing I miss is how well the Xbox 360 controller worked with the wireless dongle on PC. Perfect hassle-free connection every time.

I'm actually using DS4Windows already, and it has worked very well for my purposes. Will buy a Playstation sometime in advance of Bloodborne. Never owned a Playstation, so I'm looking forward to it. Maybe next time, Xbox.
