Just found up my 360 headset is broken. I literally can not remember how many I have gone through in the 3 years I've owned my Xbox now - it's somewhere in the region of 6 or 7.

I don't even treat them badly. It sits on my face while I murmur obscenities to my friends in party chat for hours a week and then breaks on me every few months. I keep getting the standard 1st party headset usually. I already have an expensive headset, but that's for PC - I really don't need, or can afford one for the Xbox.

Can anyone recommend a headset that will actually last me? I live in the UK by the way.

If you don't want to spend too much try an official wireless one.

It's serving me well.

If you'd like to splash out a bit ask for the Turtle Beach X41s in GAME.

Well, depends on the kinda person or player you are. I know the MS branded ones I have watched 3 break in less than a year thanks to my goofball son refusing to unplug the headset jack from the controller before putting the controller up in the cabinet..

However, for me personally, my headset has lasted perfectly fine for the last 2.5 years. and it is MS branded wired.

turtle beach X1 is what I have. Comfy, awesome sound, not too many cords, fairly cheap.

I'm weary of getting the Turtle Beaches, simply because my rig is wired up very oddly.

First off I'm using the console with a HDMI lead hooked up to a HD monitor, where the only sound output is a 3.5mm headphone jack. I have this hooked up, via a male/female extender wire, to the headphone jack on my sound chair.

This odd array is due to the Red/White/Yellow plugs in my chair being clogged up and essentially broken, and for me choosing a monitor with so little options for sound.

I'd say an official wireless headset... just because they work and only need a USB port for charging.

Still kind of depends on what brand you want.

The Platronics one:

is cheap, and we have 2 of them. We bought them a couple of years ago, and they are still working, which is pretty good considering the official Xbox ones last a year at best.

You aren't going to be wowed by it or anything, but as far as a basic headset goes, it has worked out for me.

I've got an official wireless mic that's served me well since the day I bought it three years ago. Somewhat pricey, but it gets the job done, and it's very easy to use.

I wish I still had the original wired mic - the one with the slightly bulkier connection to the controller. I dislike how the newer ones connect with just a tiny little plug which easily seems to get twisted about as I lounge about in my chair.

Thanks for the suggestion people. I'll look into getting a 3rd party wired mic most likely - see how they last for me in comparison to the 1st party ones.
