Pretty much anything written by Terry Pratchett, the man is a genius. His Discworld series is fantasy adventure-humor and sometimes parody. If you feel impatient and want to dive right in, several of his books were made into cartoon or live action TV movies and most can be found on YouTube. [The site takes them down and they go right back up again.]
Look for 'Wyrd Sisters' 'Soul Music' 'Hogfather' or 'The Color of Magic'.

The later books focus more on solving people's paranormal problems, like the X-Files but based out of an antique shop run by a female immortal and a ghost using his old skeleton as a sort of puppet body.
