So I've got an $80 AUD voucher for JB Hi-Fi (to put this in perspective, new releases here are usually $100), and I'm going to use it to get a game. It doesn't matter if the price of the game is over this. Recommend me a game.

To help you, games that I particularly enjoy are;

- CoD series (IW though)
- Max Payne 1 & 2
- Oblivion & Fallout 3
- Half Life series
- GTA series
- FEAR
- Crysis
- STALKER
- Dragon Age: Origins

Please note that living in Australia, not all the latest releases are here yet.

Two that I've been eying however are Borderlands (but I don't know if it's gonna end up repetitive and boring for me) and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

EDIT: Noting that I've already got Bioshock, Portal, TF2, MW2, latest Riddick game(s), Dragon Age etc.

So, basically any FPS, right?

In that case, try Painkiller (the first one) or Timesplitters 2.

Bioshock. Definitely Bioshock.
And PoRTaL.
Yeah, and those too.

I prefer at least superficially tactical I suppose, but I'm not that fussed. It's a shame Rainbow Six got so very not tactical.

Borderlands will give you longer life than Call Of Juarez.

I heartily recommend Borderlands, but only if you can play it online.
I have a lot of problems playing online (due to our router, which I've got no way of bypassing for the time being), so there's no guarantee I'd be able to play it online (for example, it was about 8 months before I could get L4D to work properly).

I enjoy very atmospheric games though.

I recomend Borderlands highly.

But if you want an uncensored L4D2 I can give you the name of the site I got my uncensored version from but keep in mind customs can and will confiscate it if they check the package, they did'nt check my though.

I'd recommend Left for Dead 1&2.

Same basic principles but I think the stories are different enough to jusitify getting both, as you can find L4D1 pretty cheap these days.

:)

Already got it, finished it once, don't think I could ever finish it again.

Already got L4D1, I'm not going to bother with the censored version of L4D2, and it's too much hassle to get the uncensored version.

I should also mention I'm a real sucker for a good story. I'll sit through horrible gameplay for the sake of the narrative (though I'd rather not).

I've played Boarderlands at a friends place every other saturday for a month'ish (so, basically I've played it two or three times :)). At first, I didn't care for it. The icon character annoys me, and the characters you get missions from have all of three lines a piece. In the span of maybe one or two hours, I heard more than enough from the first two NPCs and that Claptrap thing to get utterly sick of the voice "talent...." The only thing worse than real twang is forced twang.

Then we started to crank out some missions. The gameplay, and variety of weapons (good god man) is so unique that it more than makes up for how annoying the voice talent is. It's like Diablo meets FPS's. However, like Diablo, there are alot of cheaters online. Play with a friend, and it's all in good fun. :)

Looks like Borderlands is the way to go.

What about ArmA II? Does anybody recommend that? From reviews it looks good, but my machine is average at best...

Battlefield Bad Company?
Too online dependent, I'm looking for a game that I can still play and enjoy without playing online if need be.

Far Cry 2.

You play on PC only or consoles too?

And btw, Bad Company has a campaign too

Borderlands is shit in my opinion, since you like stories, you'll hate that, it's got one of the thinnest most boring stories in a game, the ending is terrible, the characters are shallow and annoying and the weapons are just reskinned versions with different stats. It's just a bad game.

My first suggestion would be Mass Effect, I think you'd love that if you loved Dragon Age and you like shooters.

Army Of Two sounds like the kind of game that you'd like. Tactical decisions on when to advance and when to go on the defense as well as some nice gameplay in there.

Far Cry 2 Sucks, Repitive gameplay, only 3 mission types, takes bloody forever to finish,

mp is good tho!
Have to agree, I got tired of FC2 very fast, it wasn't anywhere near as good as FC: Instincts or the original. And the story is very confusing.

But doing the missions is fun, sneak in the night to a enemy village and ambush them with a silenced MP5. Or shoot them with a sniper from some cliff.

Then Borderlands may not be your best bet. I'd go with Bioshock.

If you have an Xbox 360 then I would recommend Mass Effect. It's an excellent action-adventure shooter with an excellent story.
