Yep I need something to hold me over while I await my Balls of Steel to be released. 360 or even PS2 if Gamestop has it in stock. I don't care what kind of game it is (aside from EA's $60 roster updates) as long as you can explain why it's a good game.

Methinks mayhap I should've put up some kind of list of games I already own.

BLOPs
Every Fallout except NV
Dark Sector
Final Fantasy XIII, X, X-2, VII, XII, Dirge of Cerberus
Prototype
Mass Effect and 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Bioshock
Shadow of the Colossus
Gungrave: Overdose
God of War and 2
Devil May Cry 1, 2 and 3
Chaos Legion
Guitar Hero 2, 3, World Tour
Dynasty Warriors 4
Soul Caliber 2 and 3

Shadow of the Colossus. Great game. Beautiful scenery, the colossi are all different, and each fight is a great puzzler. Quote Yhatzee on it: "There's nothing else like it and it is just damn good. Damn damn good good damn good damn damn. Good.

Borderlands for sure. Don't know if I've ever had so much fun playing a video game.

After that Fallout 3 or Gears of War

I think "Damn." was the last thing he said.

While on the subject of amazing PlayStation 2 games, also consider:
God of War (II)
Jak and Daxter (II/3)
Resident Evil 4 *best survival horror game ever made, you will not regret playing this unless you scare easy*

Duke Nukem Forever balls of steel edition and I already have SotC. Might pick up Boarderlands if it's at a reasonable price.

EDIT: ahhh I've really got to post faster, I do have RE4 I've made it up to the point before you fight the regeneraty things and haven't gotten around to finishing because I do not enjoy invisible things trying to molest me.

Shooter: Team Fortress 2 on the PC. Get a couple of friends to play with you, and you will be instantly hooked.

Fighting: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Addicting, fun, epic game.

RPG: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. It's a nice turn based RPG, I liked it a lot, considering I don't like RPGs.

Racing: F-Zero GX. Great futuristic racer. It's a blast to play, but prepare to throw the controller in frustration, if you're gonna play story mode.

Platformer: Sonic Colors. It's GOOD. JUST PLAY IT.

I keep seeing this thread pop up and every time it is the same thing. When you say "recommend me" you are asking someone to recommend you to someone. The proper way to ask this is "recommend a game to me." Major pet peeve! /rant

Anyway, I recommend Arcanum. It is fantastic... it has a great story, an excellent system, and a great setting. Basically a magical world is going through an industrial revolution and magic finds itself becoming irrelevant. And that is just the backdrop. The characters are highly customizable making hundreds of different builds possible. Besides the main quest their are more side quests than you can shake a stick and they are really richly developed...not just "go off and find xyz" or "kill five abc". You can get it pretty cheaply at good old games.

I've been quite enjoying X-COM:UFO Defense. Its an old game (1993), but its a pretty awesome tactical strategy game that is both deep and complex (and challenging). Its $5 on steam and ranked among the best computer games of all time. Check it out.

Well, you didn't really suggest consoles, so I went on a whim.

[small]also the fact that I'm a Nintendo fanboy doesn't really help at all....[/small]

Metal Gear Solid 1-3 (Substance and Sustenance optional)
Devil May Cry 1-4
Assassin's Creed I,II
Prototype
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (not a very deep game, but it's still fun to throw people and things around and off bridges)

Actually, he did say which consoles he was looking for games for. He said 360 or even PS2 if his local Gamestop had it.

Well, I've heard Beyond Good and Evil is good, and if you have XBL, you can get the HD remake.
For the PS2, Jak and Daxter, and Sly Cooper.
