Hey there. The cans I'm currently rocking (SoundBlaster Tactic3D Sigma [https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page2/c26-B0041OMWNY-1-s.jpg]) are great, but I had to use superglue to fix them a few days ago after some abuse and that'll only keep them limping on for so long. So now it's time for me to go shopping!

My budget is around the ?40-?60 range ideally. I want a headset that's metal and not plastic in the headband, so it won't snap. It needs to be loose and light enough to be comfortable for several hours of gaming. The surround sound needs to be at least decent, and the sound quality should remain consistently high, not becoming 'muddy' at low or high volumes. There should also be an inbuilt microphone of good clarity and decent volume - it is not necessary for me to be the loudest ************ in the room. I will mainly be using the headset to enjoy crisp, clear and bombastic percussion pieces while I plow KV-1s through columns of panicking infantrymen, so I'd like to be able to hear and identity each audio source if that makes sense - I should be able to tell roughly where an explosion came from and be able to pick out individual instruments.

TL,DR:

[li]Light and comfortable; suitable for extended sessions[/li]
[li]Robust build quality[/li]
[li]Consistently crisp, clear sound quality and moderately good bass without 'muddiness'[/li]
[li]Clear microphone (retractable or detachable)[/li]
[li]Wired or wireless; no preference[/li]
[li]Bundled customization software not paramount, but preferable[/li]

I use a logitech g930. They are a bit above your price range but they are good quality and haven't broken in 2 years. However they only have good sound for shermans and churchills so lend lease tanks for you from now on.

Looked at HyperX Cloud? There are two versions, one is with the analogue jack and #2 is the USB version (but a tad more expensive).

No idea what currency you're on about, the symbols on these forums have gone screwy.

I recently picked up a pair of Oppo PM3 headphones. They are nothing short of amazing.

If those are outside of your price range, the other headphones I use are the Audio-Technica ATH ANC23 in-ear headphones. They have fantastic noise cancellation and great frequency response.

Oh right, I forgot about that. Boy, that looks weird. It's GBP, basically. Funny you mention that particular pair; I just looked at a review over on PC Gamer for the HyperX Cloud and read about the HyperX Cloud II in the comments (they have 7.1). I picked myself up a pair on Amazon and they came the very next morning! ^^

So I guess this thread's purpose is pretty much fulfilled. I could lock it, but I could also just let it sit or drift into harmless nonsense.

Funny story: disabled lots of German tanks, their crews bailed out, gunned down the crews, stole the tanks, repaired them and turned them against their former masters. Delicious poetic justice.
