Hey Escapist. I've seen a good many gun owners on here so I want to ask you a question. I was going to save up for a rifle soon, and I was wondering what I should purchase. I am looking for any kind of rifle, or a pump action shotgun. I have a budget of up to $450. $500 is really pushing it. I was looking at a WASR-10 and really am leaning towards that, but before I make a decision I want to hear your opinions. Suggest away!

EDIT:I am NOT looking for anything with a folding stock.

I'm not sure about import laws, but I hear Mosin Nagant rifles go incredibly cheap around the Soviet bloc countries these days. There's still millions left over from WW2. I'm sure there's import sites that'll get you one.

I was going to recommend a Lee-Enfield, but that might be a bit out of your price range.
I live in california and I could buy a Mosin Nagant for 99$ at Big 5.

Only problem is it uses 7.62x54mmR. That might be pretty hard to find around me.

Fixed. Thank you my tub of lard like friend from over seas.

You're right, it is fun.

It's 12am here, and I've just been typing for about 2 hours straight. There are going to be mistakes.

Actually, we do have guns over here. They're just much harder to get.

Mental illness is an instant blacklist, as you would expect.
Criminal record too.
Doctors specific assessment if you are fit to own one is required.
Handguns are outright banned.
Automatic (and semi I think) too.
You can get a shotgun or bolt action rifle for the sole purpose of hunting wildlife in the country.
If you are not the landowner or resident farmer, you must prove you have their permission to hunt on their land.
You can also get those guns if you are a registered member of a rifle range.
They must be transported in a lockable metal container secured to your car and only be transported when intended to be used.

There's probably more, but basically, you can get them if you live in the country, but not cities (legally at least). The market town I live near actually has a "gun store", although the majority of it's sales are more general hunting equipment and supplies.

Politics? bah! Poppycock. It's doubtful such an ignorant person such as yourself knows anything about politics. You Americans and your blasted nukes.

I must be off. Having the neibours round for a spot of Earl Grey then for a dab in Croquet. Must dash so away with you, go on, shoo, you sicken me, go of and inbreed or what ever it is you do.

Tally-ho.

What do you need the rifle for? Hunting? Sports? Home defence? Or gang warfare?

Edit: Also, how much did your liscence set you back? Interested in one myself.

I actually did laugh. Out loud. It should be further noted that I was trying to drink at the time so said laugh resulted in a brief spell where I tried to drown in my beverage before coughing it across my screen and keyboard. Posts like this are why I badly need a new keyboard.

English is a Germanic language that originated; obviously; around Germany. So basically, English was invented by barbarians from an entire region (not just nation. An entire region) away from England.

Also, you shouldn't call somebody out on a forgivable typo when you yourself don't capitalize anything :)

I'm in America, and a WASR-10 is semi auto. I don't need a lisence.

your history is incomplete. the anglo-saxon tongue is a melting pot of different languages all colliding in the british isles, of which the germanic invaders were only part. so while basic syntax and conjugation rules can (mostly) be attributed to germanic roots, the bulk of what can be considered "english" originates from many other sources.

also you missed the joke

Also, you shouldn't call somebody out on a forgivable typo when you yourself don't capitalize anything :)
at this point i would like to call attention to your misuse of the semicolon, your frequent violations of english etiquette, and your own lack of punctuation at the end of your post.

:)
