Hey Escapist. I've seen a good many gun owners on here so I want to ask you a question. I was going to save up for a rifle soon, and I was wondering what I should purchase. I am looking for any kind of rifle, or a pump action shotgun. I have a budget of up to $450. $500 is really pushing it. I was looking at a WASR-10 and really am leaning towards that, but before I make a decision I want to hear your opinions. Suggest away!

EDIT:I am NOT looking for anything with a folding stock.

What do you need the rifle for? Hunting? Sports? Home defence? Or gang warfare?

Edit: Also, how much did your liscence set you back? Interested in one myself.

I'm in America, and a WASR-10 is semi auto. I don't need a lisence.

So...its just for the sake of having one? Dude put your money to better use and upgrade your pc or something. Unless you are hunting, using for sports or live in a REALLY bad area...you are wasting your cash buying a rifle. May aswell just throw it on a bonfire.

Your price range seemed a bit ridiculous to me but guns are a little more money here in Canada. Well, not all, rifles are fairly cheap, but shotguns start at around 400 and the ones I'd recommend would probably run like 600-700 (which I don't know how much it'd be for you. IMO, go to a firearm store or a hunting store and see what they say. I trust the internet but sometimes you just gotta ask someone who sees hundreds upon hundreds of guns a day.

If you're looking for a gun I'd recommend one that fires bullets, doesnt matter which one as long as it shoots bullets. Bullets tend to kill things.

They are delightfully fun to use. But I must say they still take too long IMO.

There must be a faster way to cut through all this sheet metal...

Oh I'm a gun nut. I just don't see the point of wasting $500 that could go towards something far more useful and valuable and something I will actually USE rather than something to simply look at.

How about a brand new "California-issue" AK-47? There is one available at the Big-5 around the corner here for about $250.

Not sure what the price over there, but I'm very satisfied with my remington 7615, it's a 5.56mm pump action rifle that can take AR-15 magazines, it's accurate, safe and reliable.

No I do it as a compulsive behavior.

If it weren't for that I'd be replacing words with numbers and putting a random 'z' after every word.

i dunno, calling out bad grammar is typically a sign of the behavior i mentioned, although it could have been you just didn't notice the sarcasm in my calling out the englishman, which is totally understandable seeing as how my RL friends complain they can't tell when i'm being sarcastic even in the spoken word.
