Recommend me a webcomic

8-Bit theater was the best suggestion on this whole thread. Although it's just manipulated sprites, it's done in an ironically tasteful way, and the creator Brian Clevinger was good enough to start write comics for Marvel. The series is now complete after 1100 pages, but it's well worth looking into.

Try Axe Cop! You'll probably lose 12 brain cells a minute while reading it, but its good fun. Its pretty well-drawn, and its story is.... unique.

Point is, it takes place in a world where animals replace humans).

If you like Warcraft then "TEH GLADIATORS" may be worth looking at.
Also since somebody recommended "Order of the Stick" I'd like to add both "Servants of the Imperium" and "Anti-Heroes" to the list.

Scandanavia and the World - I sometimes laugh for minutes at one of them, but some don`t even make me smile..still, you have to know some basic stuff about the countries used there (stereotypes and stuff).
And there are about 200+ comics i belive and it`s still being updated.

Has a very deep plot, a good mix of heartwarming, funny, awesome, and tear-jerker moments, likeable characters, and a premise that is kind of a mix of Earthbound and The Sims. Starts out slow, but definitely picks up once (going to say this in the least spoilerish way I can) John enters The Medium.

Gonna give another vote to Doc McNinja and 8-bit Theater. Others of note include Least I Could Do (from the team behind LFG!), Menage A Three (often a bit NSFW), Flaky Pastry, Eerie Cuties, Weregeek, Treading Ground (kinda like Clerks, but more amusing), Between Failures (kinda like TG, but more main characters), Devilbear (he's the Satan of stuffed animals!), and I just started reading Olympic Dames, where pregnant teens receive super-powers from the demigod children they carry. Hi-jinks ensue.

The kind of comic I'm looking for does all of these things:

*Tells some kind of ongoing story.
*Recurring characters.
*It doesn't have to be a humor comic.
*Jokes in themselves aren't a problem, though.
*Skilled artwork.

So yeah, I DON'T want you to recommend me XKCD. (I mean, hey, I already am a fan of it.)

Webcomics I already read include Girl Genius, Jack, Gunnerkrigg Court and, of course, Questionable Content.

As far as I know, doesn't he take photographs, and then digitally alter them by drawing over them? That's why the characters are so detailed compared to the backgrounds. It is a really well drawn comic though, and it fits really well. Doesn't update half enough.

The Meek is brilliant, but it doesn't update often. It fits all your other criterion.

That comic is simply amazing, pity that you can already tell it's going to take a few years to finish it's arc with such detailed drawings though, I want to know what happens already! I'll probably have to leave it for a while because of that, I like reading these kind of stories in full.

OT: My recommendation would be Octopus Pie [http://www.octopuspie.com/], because it's essentially what people read questionable content for, except it doesn't suck like that does. It's one of the few comics that can balance humour and character development well too.
