Recommend me an RPG

So I tried for what seems like the millionth time to get my copy of Oblivion to function properly and it still isn't really working properly in the slightest. It crashed as I rode my horse up a hill, and nothing else was happening. Thus, I'm just tired of dealing with it.

Ergo, I ask you people here of the Escapist to recommend me a good RPG that would be of a lower price, but still relatively good. FYI, already have Fallout 3 for PS3, but I'm looking for something a little less tech-based and more fantasy style. Speaking of which, please, no Final Fantasy recommendations. I've got a roommate to recommend those and I just don't have the time to sit through several hours of cutscenes when I just want to level up dudes' magic, stealth, or weaponry skills to slay dragons and whatever else.

Well since you have a PS3, you should definitely try out Demon's Souls and/or Dark Souls.

If you have a Wii, then I'd also recommend The Last Story or Xenoblade Chronicles.

Dragon Age: Origins is probably going pretty cheap these days and fits the bill with the fantasty setting etc.

Since you mainly just wanna level up and kill shit, you could give Torchlight a go. It's available on XBLA and Steam, the PC version is designed to be able to run on the lowliest Notebooks so there shouldn't be any issues with your PC not being powerful enough (assuming you have one that is).
