So I was watching "Wagnaria!!" earlier and my mother saw this and told me off about.

How can I convince her that not all anime is tentacle rape?

It's got a really good story, and a great cast of characters, but it's sort of confusing the first watchthrough. It's rather mature and intelligent, and no fanservice. It's a good, "Anime isn't just cliches and boobs." Anime.

Why you ask?

No tentacles, no rape, no directly or overtly or excessive sexual themes, no blood guts or gore. So what does it have? Great story, great action, great characters and complex symbolism and storytelling mechanisms. Plus, only 6 epps long. Full of win, no matter how many times you watch it.

I should think the answer to this question is obvious. Any Studio Ghibli film would work in this situation. Try Spirited Away, or Kiki's Delivery Service.

Edit: Wait... I've watched Working (aka Wagnaria), or at least the first season, how is that tentacle rape? It is pretty laid back. Sure it has some sex-based jokes, but nothing bad. Unless the second season got really nasty or something..
