Oh god why! You could get an Xperia Play for that much (around $500 yes?)...which is roughly as powerful and has physical buttons. There aren't many good games you can play with just the touch screen, mostly a lot of crapware or decent games with terrible control schemes. Only game I can recommend is Asphast 6 (basically a burnout clone, I assume it has gyroscopic controls so you should be able to play it ok). That and turn based RPGs/strategy games via emulation (though personally I don't find many of those fun). Advanced wars or chrono trigger are good examples.

If you really wanted a tablet you could have gotten one that runs Windows and is more powerful for 500-600 bucks.

Two reasons I bought a Xoom

1. Not much choice at my local store and I don't buy electronics online
2. Don't trust Microsoft, not after the red ring of death. If I can avoid giving them money, I will.

Mind you, I do like the look of the Xperia Play, but hearing about Sony's "dedcation to online services scared me off, not to mention I've had difficulty finding one in australia, even online. Besides, I can go online with the Xoom and am currently using it to post on this forum, so I can't complain.

You are really missing out...retail stores are only there to rip you off. Seriously, you can get electronics twice as powerful and half the price online, which is why I rarely shop in electronics stores anymore.

Plus I don't think microsoft actually makes a line of tablet computers, it's all third party hardware configurations running Windows 7 or XP. I bought a no-brand one from Hong Kong or China (can't remember) and it performs flawlessly and gets more than 3.5 hours battery life of constantly on at full brightness (though that is pretty atypical for foreign no-brand stuff, just gotta keep an eye on seller's ebay feedback to find the good stuff).

Not sure why dedication to online services is bad though...I love my Xperia.

Well, I can recommend some games however I'm not 100% certain how well they perform on tablets. I use a MyTouch 4g as a phone and there are lots of good android games but just beware, like I said before, their tablet performance might not be on par with the experience I've had on my phone.

That being said:

1) Dillo Hills - it's like Tiny Wings for iOS only I think Dillo Hills is much more fun

2) Zenonia 1, 2, and 3. - They remind me most of Secret of Mana but I guess you could call them Zelda-esque

3) Dungeon Defenders - a great piece to show off the power of your device it's an unreal-engine powered hybrid of a tower defense game and an action-rpg

4) Highborn - a terrific Advance-Wars style game with great graphics, however i think it might only be available on the Amazon App Store for android, which isn't a big deal to get, just an FYI

5) UniWar - another good Advance Wars style turn based tactical combat game

6) Then of course there's the PopCap games like Peggle and Plants vs Zombies which are both good too if you're into that kind of thing. I think those are both also only available on the Amazon App store for android as I have never seen them on the regular android marketplace, although I could be wrong.

I'm sure there's plenty of others I'm forgetting but those are a good start.
