I'm looking for some new films to watch, what would you recommend?

I'm looking for something with a deep story, and i'm not a huge fan of romcoms.

Anything else is fair game to me.

At the moment i'm really into non english films, so that's something to go on.

Never mind then.
Requiem for a dream is a romcom?

...news to me.

I've already watched it though.

I just watched this two days ago. It is not a movie in the same way Rocky Horror Picture Show is not a movie.

But it is definitely a mindfuck amazing movie and I actually enjoyed it. My only concern: Why didn't this come out in 1977 in America so I could have looked it up sooner?

In Bruges.

It'sa black comedy. It's my favorite film of all time and you need to watch it.
Inglorious Basterds is good too. And Pulp Fiction.

I have to recommend Oldboy. It's a Korean film about revenge. It's one of my favourite movies of all time, it's really well-made and a very interesting story. I won't say too much about it, but I'll leave the following:

A man is imprisoned for 15 years and suddenly gets released with no clue as to why. He know has to find out why and from then on, the movie just gets better and better.

If you like that, watch the two other movies in the Vengenace trilogy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. They're all instructed by Park Chan-Wook and are all great, imo. As you probably figured out, they're all about the theme of revenge.

Well that's quite a wide bracket, so I'll just think of a few good ones of various genres I've seen recently:

Shawshank Redemption: Prison drama
Aliens: Action sci-fi
Grave of the Fireflies: WW2 Anime tradegy
Cinderella Man: Boxing drama
Braveheart: Medieval action/war
Schlinders list: Holocaust drama

Oh, god, no...

As for my suggestions, let me try and recommend some of the more obscure stuff I've got on my shelves...

Eulogy - a great dysfunctional family comedy about a girl tasked with writing her grandfather's eulogy.

The Orphanage
The Devil's Backbone - two great movies from Guillermo del Toro. His horror films are amazing, and I really wish he'd make a genuine horror movie in English.

Night Watch - Russian horror movie about two supernatural forces fighting for permanent control of the world.

As for deep stories, I can't recommend anything obscure, but you can never go wrong with Almost Famous, Watchmen, The Prestige, or The Wrestler. Secretary is also a good one, but borders on romantic comedy with really dark overtones.

I cannot tell, is this a bad "Oh God, No...." or a Good one? It's not a great movie, but it is incredibly creative, you got to give it that.

"Creative" is definitely a good word to apply to that movie... It's entertaining, but also really screwed up.

I've got a list like this myself in Notepad, let's see what we've got...

Gattaca
Dark City
The Fall
Requiem For a Dream
12 Monkeys
Mystery Men
Old Boy
Moon
The Fountain
In Bruges

I've haven't actually seen any of them, but they all appear to be good (with the exception of Mystery Men, I've heard mixed things about that one.)

What have you watched?
I can likely assume you've not seen The Life Aquatic.
I'm not a man for comedies (for I cannot smile) but that is one of my personal favourites.
