Getting a new computer next month and I'm looking for some new games to go with it.
Already bought Elder Scrolls III+IV and Medieval Total War 2 (don't ask) but I don't want anything on the lines of MW2 because...just no.

Warcraft III Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III The Frozen Throne.

You'll have a blast on B.net.

... I would also suggest Starcraft II.

Try DotA or any DotA based games like HoN or LoL.

Steam has an amazing library of games to choose from as well.

I got DiRT2 and a few RPGs to go with mine. I like Morrowind over Oblvion. Also if you want a good platformer Trine is awesome.

You said no FPS's, but everything from Valve from HL2 onwards - you may find stuff before that too old, I dunno.

Sooo let's think...

Dragon Age: Origins
Mass Effect 1/2
Just Cause 2
Arkham Asylum

Ummm...

I'm now realising how many first person games I have.

Give Mirror's Edge a go (not a shooter) maybe?

If you're willing to try older games then I'll recommend my top favourites:

Mafia
Knights of the Old Republic
PoP: The Sands of Time

Get the last 2 off of Steam, Mafia will be harder to find I think.

Crysis is also a very good game and far better than your standard FPS - blows anything the CoD series has to offer out of the water.

If you're wanting to try an MMO that's more interesting than a grind-fest then I'd say try EVE Online.

If you're in to RTS I'd recommened World in Conflict, Company of Heroes and Men of War.

You can never go wrong with old-school RPGs like Fallout and Planescape: Torment or any of the Tim Schafer games.

I'd also say you should give System Shock 2 or if you haven't, Portal a potshot. I know that these are FPS but they are nothing like MW2 as you firmly put it.

www.GOG.com for Good Old Games.

If you haven't gamed on PC before, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a FPS that is nothing like MW2. The Witcher is a PC exclusive that should be cheap now, and can be improved with mods. In fact there a couple of games that are better on PC because of mods.

Civ V is coming if you are willing to say goodbye to your life for a while. (I am looking forward to that release in equal amounts of relish and dread.)

GTA IV is not a happy match with PCs in my opinion, after an hour of installing/patching/filling my system with Malware I said enough and canceled it. Don't get Saints Row 2 it sucks on PC.
