Just got a PS3 recently. It came with Uncharted 1&2, and Infamous 1&2. I also picked up the God of War collection, and Metal Gear Solid 4. So fellow Escapists, recommend me your favorite PS3 games!

Demon Souls and Okami HD. Those are the only two games you need on a PS3, and the fact that they weren't already on your list of games you picked up disappoints me greatly.

Seconded and throw in Dark Souls as well, even if it's not an exclusive, it's still more of Demon's Souls goodness.

I'll also add Killzone 3 to the mix, if only for the multiplayer alone. To me it's one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played. I haven't actually played the singleplayer, I only did for 2, but that was great as well, very, very intense on higher difficulties.

Other games that are worth checking out are worth checking out are Little Big Planet 1 and 2, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Ratchet & Clank and Valkyria Chronicles.

Don't know what you got on other consoles or pc but Red Dead Redemption GOTY and Fallout: New Vegas are both awesome. Valkyria Chronicles is amazing(no trophy support for some reason, not sure if you care about that) and JRPG White Knight Chronicles II is good. Made by Level 5, the creators of Dark Cloud and some other epicness. Ni No Kuni comes out in January! That will be fantastic! Tokyo Jungle is a really good exclusive. Post apocalyptic animal simulator I guess? Journey! Heavy Rain. Retro City Rampage is good old school fun. XCOM!(not exclusive but get it!)3d Dot Game Heroes! Zelda clone done fantastically well! Dark and Demon's Souls. Try not to die. :) Tons of amazing old school games on the PSN you should check out too. Enjoy!
I have Red Dead GOTY and Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition for Xbox. I mostly got the PS3 for exclusives. And wow that's a pretty big list. I will definitely check out most of those games you listed. Thanks for the recommendations!

I've heard so many good things about both of those games, so I will have to play both. I'm sorry I disappointed you :(

Don't forget Uncharted 3 once you've completed 1 & 2.

Also Heavy Rain if you feel you could get into it's style of gameplay.

Get Tombi! off of PSN (if it's released when you are. It may well be called Tomba!)

And get the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection as well. And continuing with HD Collections, I would pick up Ratchet & Clank HD Collection as well.

And Heavy Rain (it's a love/hate game, I was one of those that loved it)

I second Heavy Rain, it's an interesting experience, and even though it will probably leave you annoyed and confused, its still worth it because the game is hilarious. I bought it for 8 bucks last week and played through it with my friend. It was the most hilarious experience I've ever had in a game ever

YAKUZA 3/4

a very ''methodical'' GTA.. but the combat is great and you really feel like your living in japan. there will be mini games you wont care about, but the characters and main plot you will care about and side mission weirdness.

In terms of PS3 exclusives, I would highly recommend taking a look at Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3, The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection, any of the Uncharted games, Yakuza 4, The Unfinished Swan, 3D Dot Game Heroes, and Infamous 2.

They don't have to be exclusives. Wow there are so many good games for PS3. After seeing this big list, I think that PS3 has the better exclusives. I am going to look into all of these games sooner or later. Keep the recommendations coming!

I'm actually in the same boat as you OP. I also recently purchased a PS3. The timing just seemed right.

I've already managed to purchase a few games for the system and I'll let you know the ones that I happen to be enjoying most at the moment.

Valkyria Chronicles
This was pretty much the system seller to me. The game has been pretty fantastic so far. It provides unique gameplay that I simply cannot experience anywhere else, and boy can it get challenging at times. The art style is amazingly appealing.

Persona 4 Arena
If you have any interest in the Persona series or in a simply fantastic fighting game I think that this is a really solid purchase. I liked that the game allows for a person who isn't all that good at fighting games (like myself) to pick it up, learn the basics and feel like a bad ass while playing. Of course for those hardcore fighting game fans the game itself has tons of depth that can be learned, but I feel aren't necessary to learn about to enjoy the game.

Now I just wanted to talk to you OP about some of the suggestions that I've seen mentioned above.
White Knight Chronicles II
I'd be hesitant to fully recommend this game to someone unless I was sure about their taste in video games. In all honesty the game can get pretty repetitive in its mechanics and the story isn't exactly thrilling (to me). The game has you starting off and creating a character, but that character is basically nonexistent to the main plotline which I found to be strange. The game has an online pass system to access the online multiplayer aspect of the game, so if you buy it used you'd have to buy the pass for $9.99(I think) if you wanted to access it. It comes with a new copy of the game.
Oddly enough though it's probably the game I've currently put the most time into. It's a pretty solid average RPG game. I simply like the repetitive nature of the game at times. It's something that doesn't require me to think all that much. Also there does seem to be a small number of people who seem to still play online although pretty much all of them are at the max level (expected since the game has been out for quite some time :p).

Yakuza 4
I still don't know how I feel about this game. The pacing just strikes me as unnecessarily slow. I think I might have accidentally picked the easy difficulty when I started this game because I wasn't feeling confident about my fighting game skills (after playing P4Arena online x3). Take that into account when I say that it doesn't feel as though the game has all that much challenge to it at the moment. The finishing moves in that game are obscenely satisfying though. Even if I've seen it a dozen times I still occasionally cringe when I see my character just stomp on a person's face. I feel as though I'm supposed to be invested in the story, but I'm simply not drawn in. I don't know why. I will say though that the game seems to have an absurd number of mini-games, but I don't find any of them particularly enjoyable except for a one time laugh. Not exactly something to keep me playing the game.

Tokyo Jungle
I wish I could heartily recommend this game. This game seems like one that is sold simply based on people hearing the absolutely silly concept. It's a game where you play as an animal in Tokyo in a world where humans are extinct and animals are all loose. In my opinion the game simply feels too grindy and repetitive the way it's designed. This would be due to the nature in which animals are unlocked. You don't get to choose which animal gets unlocked and they're unlocked by playing the survival mode over and over again and each time completing a specific challenge to unlock the next animal. This strikes me as tedious when all I want to do is play as a badass tiger or something. Instead I'm stuck only being able to play as a variety of different dogs after investing several hours into the game.
Now don't get me wrong the game play itself can provide some tense and exciting moments. It's just that it's the same environment every time you start up a game of survival so it can get a bit monotonous to me.
For a more in depth look go check out Susan Arednt's review of it here on The Escapist: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9949-Tokyo-Jungle-Review

Oh yeah, I suppose I should also say that you should get Journey. Everyone everywhere that owns a PS3 consistently says that Journey is a must play game. I personally haven't played it, but I have ordered the collector's edition since it was on sale over the Black Friday weekend. :D

Happy Gaming!
