Id go for the Resistance Series, 1 was a little clunky, but they are all fairly good shooters, with a enjoyable story that doesnt spend to much time trying to crowbar itself in.
Also if you want to lose a few weeks of your life entirely get the Dragon Age: Origins, Ultimate Edition.

These are all very good games, and I recommend all of them. Especially Shadow of the Colossus HD (also comes with an extra game, ICO), even more so if you play in surround sound with a large screen. Same goes for Bad Company 2 and Condemned 2 but while that IS a horror game, it's combat system is brilliant. Fun as hell with all the punching, and melee mechanics. Guns handle pretty bad though.

Section 8: Prejudice is a tad hard to get into, but it's worth it I guess. Deus Ex: Human Revolution however is easy to be dragged into, and it is a complete time vampire. So are the Borderlands games. And finally, R&C and J&D HD are really great child like platformish shooter hybrids. I love them to DEATH, they are great. Soon there will be R&C: Deadlocked (Or R&C Gladiator for us Aussies) on PSN which will be fun. They have great memories, and if you are into platformers in any, and I mean ANY way, you owe it to yourself to check these out.
