OK, now i dont really want to have to look through all the mods that have been made for skyrim, so i was hoping some of you lovely ladies and gentlemen could suggest some good mods

i have already played through it as an assassin dual dagger wielding Nord and i now want to play as a dark elf battlemage with heavy armour etc

so yeah, suggest some good mods and a link if you can, Thanks in advance

The official modding toolset which made oblivion and fallout so moddable has been delayed, and should be released some time January, or so Bethesda tells us. That pretty much means there isn't a whole lot in terms of new content mods yet, but rather just mods that change superficial aesthetic aspects of the game, like retexture mods. Nevertheless, here is a list of the decent ones so far http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/top/

Look for the mana regen mod on Nexus. The vanilla regen is ridiculous, cutting the out-of-battle regen by two thirds. Mine's at 100% now, playing on master to make the game more challenging (a lot of the mobs can kill me in two hits now, even with ironskin).

Jet suggested a lot of the good mods. Honestly, I'd just suggest taking a few minutes and searching through the mods that you want yourself. I know I've downloaded at least 100 different mods already, most of them making the game look even more breathtakingly beautiful.

Really depends on what you want.

Do you want to make the game more real and immersive?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1111

Do you want to add some silliness to the game?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=609

Do you want your graphics to look insanely good?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=114

Do you want to replace the strawberry jelly that they call "blood" with real blood?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=60

Do you want a more realistic sneak?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=819

Do you want to replace that awful bard version of Dragonborn Comes with that awesome cover?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2539

Do you want to add a ton of new items, recipes, equipment, spells, and stuff?
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1601

Do you want a nude mod? Or Child-killing mod? (Not gonna post those here, but they both exist if you want either of them)

Seriously, there's mods for just about everything now.

Nice suggestions you made too, but you repeated one of mine lol.

I second the suggestion to browse through all the mods as there are some hidden gems there that doesnt make the top 100, or items that others dont think is worthy of it. such as the jump height mod I mentioned. seriously the game has some shitty jump height issue. There is also a no finishing move mod if you hate the finishing move cam as an example of hidden gems.

as for reskin mods I dont suggest them because what I may like you may not like, or many of them are higher resolutions and could kill framerates if your rig cant handle it. Go ahead and look through the hundreds of those and pick what you want but I wont make any suggestions on them.

Yeah, if you're going to do reskin mods, you actually need the LAA mod or else you're going to crash to desktop every 10 minutes. I found that out the hard way. I think they're patching that in the next update though.

If your computer can handle it though, having a few reskin mods will make your game look outstanding.

Oh yeah, and one other really important mod to get right away:
http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=667
It gives your inventory a MUCH-needed upgrade. It lists things out better, makes it easier to read, gives you a "Value-per-Weight" statistic for each item, and also allows you to sort your inventory however you like.
Oh yeah, and ignore the strange font the guy has in his screenshots. It won't show up like that unless you download a font mod. It'll just be the normal font by default.
