So my cousin and her man are thinking about have a Star trek themed wedding and I am kind of expected and also kind of wanting to go. Problem is I've never seen more than 5 minutes of Star Trek in my life.

I've always kind of wanted to give it a shot, so Escapist, recommend me some Star Trek. Where would be a good place to start since I've never seen it?

Start at the beginning and go forward from there. Watch everything. If you are in the US you should actually be able to watch all of the original series on youtube

I would suggest the original series first. Right now, I'm on season one disc three of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The best I can do is direct you to <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.203769-A-Star-Trek-rookies-first-lesson>this thread. Someone asked a very similar question the other day, and you may be able to find your answers there.

Good luck.

God. You are going to be so freaking lost. I recommend finding a few top ten lists of the various series and figuring out the top few episodes from each series and watching those. Pay specially attention to he Next Generation since it was the longest running series and be sure to watch the first series too. Find the star trek wiki and look up Klingons and Vulcans as well as the various officers for the series. Pay less attention to newer series (they receive less attention). Learn the universal Vulcan greeting (god help you if you can't do the symbol with your fingers). Try to not draw to much attention to the fact that you don't know much. Oh, and have fun.

Next Generation is my favourite. If you want to actually watch some to get a good idea of it. Otherwise just go to Memory Alpha and snoop around.

Or watch The Big Bang Theory and try to imitate everything Sheldon Cooper does.
