I'll be getting a PS3 in March and I was hoping you could recommend some good games for me to get. Thanks in advance.

I just got one yesterday. Only really using it for exclusives - got MGS4, Resistance 2, Haze. Merry Christmas. :3

LittleBigPlanet is a must if you're into something a little different from the usual FPSs

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune should be a nice rental to get your blood going

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots can be a good whacko game to play around with

And Resistance 2 is a nice game to blow up some stuff.

That's all I can be arsed to list, but does it matter what genre it is?

other than what jumplion said, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is excellent.

Aw, to hell with it, I'll just list the exclusives and be done with it.

MGS4
LBP
Resistance 2
Resistance: Fall of Man
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction/Quest for Booty (PSN)
Warhawk (LAG FREE!@!$!$#@!)
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

That's all the exclusives I have. Huh, I have fewer games than I thought...

Though Dead Space is pretty good.

Oh, and I'd also reccomend Pixeljunk Eden and Monsters, The Last Guy, Fat Princess, Nobi Nobi Boy (its from the team who made Katamari), Super Stardust HD, and so on.
In the finest tradition of PS3 fanboy reccomendations, at least two of those aren't out yet...

Seriously, reccomending things that aren't out is pointless, not only will the thread and any suggestions in it have been forgotten by the time the games actually slouch into existence, the games might actually end up rubbish. (Nobi Nobi Boy is pretty much the definition of your mileage may vary, it's going to be far too weird for some people)

Little Big Planet is definitely a must have. My biggest problem with the game is that it ends up eating my whole evening wether I'm just playing created levels or creating my own.

And since they fixed the search function it's really opened the barn doors wide open and now there's so many more created levels for play that I didn't know about before.

Oh... and

Wipeout HD
Echocrome
Everyday Shooter
and Chess in Home is great

Valkyria Chronicles.
Fantastic game. There's a demo on PSN that I would recommend people try.
Jeez, I don't know wether or not to buy Valkyria Chronicles. I played the demo and it was alright (I'm probably going to redownload it), but the reviews have said it's pretty average but nice, but then everyone is loving it.

Plus, I havn't played an RPG in a while.

Some help on that, please?

EDIT: Though one thing I do know I'm going to do, I'll be downloading more games off of the PSN store. Any suggestions? Maybe WipeoutHD.

It's certainly worth buying. It's one of the best SRPGs around, managing to avert the normal problem of "making sure everyone gets a turn to get some XP even though it's completely tactically unsound", make units unique on the battlefield as well as in the fluff (unit personalities are modelled by "potentials" which give conditional bonuses in certain cases, like making team attacks stronger when attacking alongside close friends, or being afraid of heights, or having a major crush on another character, and they all have unique and distinctive character designs and voice performances), and also include a command point system and at least slightly avoid the problem of that system in tabletop games like Infinity (find the best thing to do and then do it repeatedly until it works) with things like ammo limits and AP movement limits.

The story is effective and generally well scripted and voice acting in the cutscenes is good (also, the main villain is Lelouch, Jun Fukuyama putting on his full on evil prince voice).

Also, the main character manages not to be a dick at any point, which is more than you can say for many RPG heroes, and actually comes across as genuinely very intelligent and able to use his knowledge and education to the best effect (for example, in an early battle, he figures out that a river will be shallow enough for his tank to ford because it has a certain type of reed growing across it that only grows in shallow water).

If by Lelouch you mean Lelouch Lamerlouge or however the hell you spell it from Code Geass, consider me sold!

If that's what you were talking about.

But, I guess that settles it, I'll be picking this up sometime soon as a holiday present for myself.

Yeah, same voice actor. Suzaku (Takahiro Sakurai) is in it as well.
