So, I've been getting back onto that handheld console since Project Diva was released, but I've been itching for a new type of game on the system. I already have a few RPGs and rhythm/artsy games. Now, I'm just looking for an action game where there's more immediacy in the gameplay. Are there any games on the vita that you would recommend that I hope isn't a port?

Good action games with immediacy that are not ports:

Those are obvious choices yeah, but we don't know if you have them or not.

"Not a port" does limit things a little bit.

Muramasa Rebirth and Malicious Rebirth are both rather action-oriented ARPGs, with the former being a side-scrolling ARPG originally released on the Wii and the latter being a 3D arena magic brawler originally released on the PS3, for example. Or there's Dragon's Crown, side-scrolling brawler-RPG made by the same guys who did Muramasa, which was released alongside its PS3 version.

There's Soul Sacrifice, which I'm still hoping to get at some point. It's a Monster Hunter-esque game as far as the gameplay goes from what I've seen, which means lots of big beasties to beat up with silly and impractical attacks.

And while it's a port and I can't speak for its quality, there's Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus (what a name), notoriously challenging hack&slash ninja sim. The PS3 version was received well, at least.

Don't really know any others off the top of my head without diving into the PSP/PSOne Classics sections...
