Note it'll take a miracle to convince me clubby or happy hardcore stuff will be something I'd enjoy, however I do like a fair bit of electronica.

I'm not gonna limit genres too much however, just interested in seeing what positive, fun, cheerful music we can pool together as a group, especially when there's so much black metal and emo downer indie stuff that is popular on this forum.

I'm currently trying the Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin, and I'll throw a few examples out there.

Oh also, I'm not really after silly or 'comedy' songs as such, more, upbeat and happy music than 'funny', tho if it works both ways that's entirely cool, I'm sounding very limiting but I don't want to be really!

The Polyphonic Spree I think do 'up' very well:

As a link to the Flaming Lips I'll link the Chemical Bros track the lead guy sang on:

And of course, no list of happy songs could be without:

I just figure with all the negativity around, lets spread some upbeat stuff around and share it!

Ska. Go with something like Mustard Plug, Reel Big Fish, or Less than Jake.

Don't know if you would consider these "clubby", but I listen to them when I'm down. They never fail to cheer me up.

Edit: There's nothing more uplifting than this song.

- As long as you don't despise Christianity and its prayers (even when spoken in another language), this is a damn uplifting song.

Didnt you list half of those earlier today?

OT: Im going to go with a bit of Jpop here, probably wont do the trick but it always lightens my mood.

Anything and everything by Owl City.
This is what I would go with as well.
Lately I found The Strokes and Cake to have some very calming and nice music - specifically "Let Me Go" and "Commissioning a Symphony in C" by Cake. Thanks Pandora! ^_^

Certainly ELO's Mr Blue Sky is way up there, and its a shame hardly anyone under 20 has even heard of them!

I'm also totally into Cake, I first heard their cover of I Will Survive, but their original material is even better!

I'll certainly give the links a try, I'm sure I can plow thru them all over time.

As for the clubby stuff, its more the ones that sound like someone's speeded up an old disco compilation and then got Alvin and the Chipmunks to shout over the top, Anything like Daft Punk I'm quite in favour of...

This is already reminding me of a bunch of older stuff I used to like that was on the brighter side, like Paul Simon's boy in the bubble, you can call me al, etc.

I think I'll be dumping a whole bunch of mp3s into a folder ready to slap on shuffle when needed :D

One I'd never have heard if it wasn't for WOW, its the inspiration for the Draenei male's dance, and despite not having a damn clue what its about, both the singer and the video are just relentlessly happy! I believe Dahler Mendhi is quite the star in India, and just goes to show you can make it even if you're a big chubby beardy bloke :D

Anything by the Adicts [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVdWhJN5cf0]. Even their songs about suicide are uplifting. The Vandals [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdvKaFS3Wf8] are pretty good for this too.

If I can think of anything else, I'll post it eventually.
