I'm looking forward to a new kind of MMORPG coming out called Demon's Souls, but Resistance 2 is a must, if you're an FPS fan and it's MMO (sort of rpg, kind of like CoD4)
Battlefield bad company is pretty cool, if you're willing to spend the time and don't want to pay for upgrades. Metal Gear Solid 4 is very fun too.
if you want, frantic addictive fun, try LittleBIGplanet too. Kane and lynch is fun, if you like backstabbing friends.
I personally also preferred a very underrated third person shooter called Fracture (doubt anyone remembers that, but you know I also enjoyed Haze, so I guess i'm "sad and pathetic")
I don't think either of those deserved the panning critics gave them, but what do I know? I'm just a gamer.

Call of Duty 4, World at War and Battlefield: Bad Company are good.

Resistance 2, really cool co-op mode where you pick classes (solider, special ops, medic (which I always go)) and you work in teams of 8 (online with up to 2 people per console) to fight AI hordes of chimera (the enemies in the game) and complete objectives

Versus mutiplayer is also really good fun, with up to 2 players per console again. And I think it can go up to 60 players online in total

I'm pretty sure that Demon's Souls doesn't qualify for an MMO for two reasons:
1) A lack of massive amounts of players (unless 4 players is "massive" to you)
2) No persistent world

Now, I won't comment on the quality of the game (hard since I haven't played it) but I'm just saying that neither Resistance or that qualify for the MMO moniker for those two reasons.

Don't get Killzone 2, it's so run of the mill it's discusting, it's pretty much your avarage FPS with great graphics, the thing is, all that graphical power that could have created a beautiful game to look at got put into making a gunmetal gray and dog shit brown destroyed world looking peice of shit.

Resitance 2 was a good game but if your looking for something great, buy the Orange Box, Team Fortress 2 is the best multiplayer game ever made and the Half-Life 2 series is great. Plus portal is a addictve game albeit is very short. The Orange Box is acually all those game put into one (hal-life 2, half-life 2 episode one, half-life 2 episode 3, portal, and team fortress 2.) and it's only $20.

Oblivion is a great single player game and will keep you playing possibly upto 100 hours. It's just so addictive and the GOTY version is only $30 which includes the downloadable content the Knights Of The Nine and The Shivering Isles (i think i spelled it wrong).

And for only $10 you can get Dark Sector which is WAYYY to cheap for what it's worth. it isn't the best story but ye it is still addictive. it has a supprisingly long storyline and has some great mechanics. It's ALMOST a horror game I guess if your scarred easily but it is really cool.

So for the price of a new game you can get 3 old yet great games (Orange Box, Oblivion, Dark Sector). now tell me that isn't cheating the money you have.

Demon's Souls is an MMO, if you've read about it, it's just a different type of MMO. When you die, you can leave helpful messages behind for anyone else.
Yes, you can't interact with them, but as you play you encounter the souls of everybody else playing online and can converse with them. That still qualifies as an MMO to me. Just not in the traditional sense.
Also I never said Resistance 2 was an MMORPG I said it was an MMO (massively multiplayer online game) which it is, sooooo many people play it. and secondly, i said it had Rpg elements, like changing your equipment, levelling up, getting stronger, gaining better items.
IMO it qualifies as an MMO.

I think it's more like a Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MORPG) it's multiplayer but your not playing with thousands of players at once.

Either way I liked everything I read about it so much I just imported a copy :D

You're right, but I'm not buying it yet, i want to see what people rate it, and also i'll wait and see if it comes out here. If not, there's always eBay.
I'm pissed though, another game I was looking so much forward to got canned. Monster Hunter 3 on ps3, that would have been just awesome.
Online gameplay, hunting monsters, playing with friends, crafting weapons.... Just made of WIN, and now it's six feet under :(

Resistance 2 is awesome. Reason being is because its not like other shooters out there. its more realistic than lets say Halo, in feel at least. Its not so realistic that it gets boring like say CoD. Same could be said for Kilzone 2, but the graphics they used for it are so downright bland it feels like your playing CoD: Future Warfare, which is annoying.

I think they really have made a game for everyone, and if you think its to unrealistic, I apologize. I just know that when you compare it to Halo or Gears of War it feels more realistic, but maybe story-wise its not.
