Broken Bells - The High road
This guy wins the thread with not only the first post, but with the first band he listed! Nice.

Okay, my suggestions. I'll just give the first five that come up randomly on my iPod.

Emilie Autumn - Shallot (I don't know what to classify Emilie Autumn as besides AWESOME. This is a more poppy song though, for her)
Closure in Moscow - Arecibo Message (Australian Progressive Rock)
Maps & Atlases - Solid Ground (Indie Rock)
I Am The Ocean - Don Piano, Sans Piano (Progressive Rock)
Bad Books - The Easy Mark & The Old Maid (Indie Rock)

Huh. Not very diverse (genre-wise) this go around. Odd.

Prepare for diversity!

Anja Garbarek

The Strokes

Ayreon

Another Ayreon because their songs are pretty different on each album

Cake

Pain of Salvation

More Pain of Salvation

Serj Tankian

Opeth(fair warning: death metal vocals for parts)

And that's just a few from my library, if anyone likes any of this stuff and wants more let me know, I love to help people find good music.

Right on, I just got introduced to Emilie Autumn's music last semester, I think it should be suggested to just about everyone, its pretty out-of-standard and needs to be experienced even if someone won't like it.

My suggestions:
Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere but not Here
Snow Pony - Easy Way Down, Titanic, or John Brown
Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - Six Gun Gorgon Dynamo or Innsmouth Look
Genitorturers - Sin City
Evil Mothers - I like Fur
Sister Machine Gun - Carbon Copy
Tubring - Subsequent Rating..., Future Was Free, or Living with Rene's Head

Mjod - Kvelertak (The video is rather violent, so you have been warned) ((It's also about a gods bread and mead)

Hashpipe - Weezer

Drive - Off with Their Heads

White Crosses - Against Me!

Sabotage - Cancer Bats

Chu Chu Lovely Muni Muni Mura Mura Purin Purin Boron Nururu Rero Rero - Maximum the Hormone

Anger Management - Random Hand

(Shake Shake Shake) Shake your Booty - KC &the Sunshine Band

Stuka Squadron - Stuka Squadron
Couldn't fine a decent link that wasn't a live performance. Kind of like Iron Maiden in both sound and the way they tell stories.

High Speed GTO - White Wizzard

Raise Your Fist Evangelist - Powerwolf

John of Violence - The Wildhearts

Going Home - Joanne Shaw Taylor
Also couldn't find a link that wasn't a live performance. She is on Last.fm though

The Jackson Whites - The Wildhearts

El Dorado - Iron Maiden

Portrait of Red - The Virginmarys

More music then I meant to post, but it's all pretty good. Mostly rock/metal/punk but a few other genres. Of the ones posted, the last one (Portait of Red) and the Cancer Bats song are my favorite.

All of Saxon Shore's songs that I've heard are instrumentals:

From Interpol:

One of my favorites from the '90s:

I think this is a very underrated musical act:

I always have to push this song when someone askes for music:

Anything by this band, honestly:

A catchy song; I'm trying my hardest to learn how to sing this song right:

I was listening to this band before they were signed to a major label:

This band was just ahead of its time:

I found this fanvid entertaining, but anything off of Nuno's 'Schizophonic' CD is a great.

If you like the stuff I posted and want more recommendations, just drop me a line.
