A new PSU will come with all the cables you need. Modular PSUs also have detachable cables to make things more convenient/less cluttered.
But can I reuse the cables already installed?, or are they hardwired into the PSU unless it's modular?

Yea, they are permanently attached to the PSU if it is not modular.

Crap...why aren't they modular by default?
That certainly would have made more sense..modular PSUs are generally a little more expensive, so maybe they are more difficult to manufacture? Not sure.

Is the manufacturing price difference steep?, if not, why not slightly up the price to compensate?

Not sure. Almost all good quality PSUs are modular to some extent these days.

Well, what about the EVGA G1 series?, are those good? I found a listing that can get me a used one in good condition (sold by someone with a 98% positive rating) for $50, linking the main page:

Yea, the unit is reliable and decently reviewed. Should be a good buy at $50. Just make sure it comes with all the cables it had originally. Here is a good review of this model:

According to the listing of the $50 one, it only comes with the really big, 24 pin cable. Am I going to have to plug it in to every possible slot on the back of it?, or will just using the really big one suffice?

Damn. No, you need a couple of PCI express cables to attach to your GPU and other components and a SATA cable for your disk drives and optical drives..I'll have a look round for something at $50 and get back to you.

What about $68.34?, is that still a decent price?

Got any that're 11 x 7 x 4?, or did I read it wrong & power supplies are standardized size-wise?

This is a good point I forgot about. The first one is 6.7" x 5.9" x 3.4" and the second is 5.51" x 5.91" x 3.39" (L x W x H)...most cases can accommodate some variation in PSU size, but some are limited in space or attachment sites. Do you know what model of case you have? Even the brand and a quick description might be helpful.

It's a Cooler master Storm Enforcer.

Great, that case will fit all three potential PSU models.
In that case, that XFX will work with my motherboard, right?
Yep, should be fine. Just make sure you remember where all the plugs go when you start removing the cables of your old PSU. Speaking from experience it can be very easy to forget where everything goes the first couple of times you do this. Taking notes or drawing a quick diagram to remember the placement and shape of each plug might be very helpful.

Just wanted to mention that modular cables from one PSU is not likely to fit on one from a different producer (or even the same producer, in some cases).
