I've been playing it for a day or so, and it's pretty awesome. Did anybody else on the forums get in on it?

Mmm C&C so good, but how far it's fallen.

I would give an open beta/demo a go, cause RA series > Tiberium based series, but I want to save my money for Starcraft 2 and Dawn of War 2.

Yeah you need kanes wrath for a key I believe, what's available in the beta?
It's essentially the early version of the multiplayer, with all the factions and units.

hmm...I might have to check this out. I haven't played one since red alert 2 though. I know I'm going to be rusty compared to the online community that plays regularly.

meh, with what they've done to Red Alert I dont even want to bother buying the game.
You mean they've added a new faction and got rid of the tank spam that has been dominant in almost all C&C games? Yeah, I'm not looking forward to making my own strategy either.

A new faction out of the blue that appeals to kids that love transformers and think everything japanese is the greatest thing next to jesus and wonderbread? yup sounds like fun

Not to mention EA is riding the comrade/communism thing.
Cash cow indeed. If only westwood was still around.

Sad part is, they'll make this, release a few patches/expansion and move on.
GG franchise. You just got EA'd

Yes, it does. Sucks that you can't get your head around Japan actually being a world power. Complaining about transformers when RA is known for simply outrageous things like Super Dogs, Prism and Tesla Tanks, the Ant Missions, and generally completely outrageous and out there things.*

Your argument sucks because you could say that the Super Dogs only appeal to kids who like Wonder Dog. Sucks that you can't get over EA though. I got over it about a year ago when I realized that they're starting to make decent games now. You should do some research and realize that Activision is the cool thing to bag on now.

*Oh yeah, kidnapping Einstein using time travel... and somehow you manage to complain about things that transform.

EA indeed.

Decent games such as? steaksauce has it right here. Anyone else remember Generals? There was what, 2 patches and Zero Hour? Granted, the game wasn't bad, per se, passable is the word I would use. I can't think of anything genuinely GOOD that EA has dished out in the last few years. At least Activision has COD4.

I love your little red herring super dog that you're trying to throw at me.

Never seen super dogs, i've seen regular attack dogs that maul infantry.
Prism and Tesla Tanks are based on technologies that may one day be feasible and have small applications today.
Ant missions were an easter egg so we obviously cant count them....

The only fantastic thing about the game was the mind-control (though that was researched as well during the 20th century) and time travel. Which I have no problem with.

Now, onto japan, so umm ya why didnt japan rise in RA2? I mean Hitler was killed, leaving Japan with a nice little empire, yet they didnt do much with it. Besides the premise of the game was that time travel is possible and that WW2 was averted as a result allowing us to see what would happen in an advanced war between the US and allies and the USSR (basically a fantatic World in Conflict), not that japan attacked america for imperialistic gain.

Now let me examine the units for a second, (these are all based on videos on the site)
Shinobi- a powerful infantry unit that throws ninja stars and can't be hurt by gunfire
The one day that ninja stars become more effective than bullets is the day America gets taken over by japan.
Yuriko- psychic infantry- I can live with it since yuri was psychic
Tank Buster- another run of the mill infantry, japan is too advanced for rockets so lets just give em lasers. Maybe in Red Alert 3: Yuri's Wrath they will have high-yield nuclear playstations because Japan is sooooooooo much better than America
King Oni- bipedal robots are simply impractical but I'm sure Japan's awesome powers would allow it to be so.

I don't even like the armored bears that the soviets have.
Anyway, there's no use even explaining it to people like you since you have your own stubborn vision for the game and I have my own stubborn vision.

Btw, EA does suck for making the franchise into all of the fantasies of every Japanimation fanboy. (Also C&C is about tank spam, if you don't want that go pick up some other RTS)

(sorry to OP about the thread jack, I just have get some things straight with this guy)

You're forgetting quite a few of the ridiculous items of the Red Alert series:

Iron Curtain - a device that temporarily makes things invulnerable
trained attack Dolphins
trained attack Giant Squids

Just think for a second about what Red Alert 3 would be like in real life. Ninjas fighting armored bears on ground while transformers fight in the sky, dolphins are tearing apart submarines, and Russian APCs are literally shooting troops into the battleground. That is the most ridiculous and awesome war EVER.

I am currently in the Beta, and aside from the server problems (currently there is some serious lag issues) I like the game a lot, especially the Empire of the Rising Sun.

Idk I guess I just like having things based on realism while keeping some more fantastic things, and RA2 struck that balance and RA3 is throwing it out the window.

A woman able to shoot entire squads with apparently limitless supply of desert eagle rounds.
A crazy bomber which a chrono suit.
Trained attack dolphins which use sonic waves to attack ships.
Giant Squids which attack ships.
A device which makes any building or vehicle invincible.
A device which is able to teleport objects through time and space.
A man able to mind control people over a telephone.
Teleporting ore miners.
Attack blimps!

Yep, all a good balance, a lot more feasible than dropping armored bears.
