Hey everybody. I got Red Alert 3 yesterday, but I have a very weird problem. When I start up the game and reach the main menu, it wants to connect to the internet but as soon as my firewall gives a message (RA3 wants to connect to the internet. Permit Yes/No?) my entire computer freezes. I can move my mouse, but it doesn't respond to anything. Of course I can turn off my firewall, but I really don't want to do that. Last time I turned off my firewall, I got a shitload of trojans and it took me two days to get it clean again.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

this is called EA kindly asking you to not purchase their products, dont make them ask again or i suspect you will find your pets start to go missing, and then family members heads at the foot of your bead when you wake up. and if you still dont get it its entirely likely that they will kill you.

really though, if you absolutely MUST buy from EA, try a pirated version, if that works then its just the DRM.

This [http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2008/11/possible-fix-for-red-alert-3-black.html] sounds like what you're looking for.

For future reference, a google search will often find a solution a bit faster than the forums here.

Just as a tip, if your PC gets a shitload of torjans when you turn off your firewall to play a game maybe you should be a bit more careful about the sites you visit =/

You should have pirated the game.

Sorry but it's true.
Ssshh.. I did..

And I fixed it by the way. Apparently, the game starting up and the firewall asking for permission somehow conflicted, but I got around it. I could also Allow a program without the program running. I never knew I could do that.

It's working fine now. This thread can be closed.
