I want to know why so many people hate the game, I thought it was just a fun game that didn't take itself seriously at all. I do have to say though that after playing RA2 (had RA3 first) I find myself reaching for the RA2 disk a lot more.

So, what your thoughts on why its bad?

Since I've never really played it, this opinion probably isn't worth much. But whatever, I saw a friend who was playing it and it didn't look interesting to play. At all.
Could be different if you actually play it, but my reading-books-by-covers instinct has stopped me picking this up.

yeah I ended up borrowing it from a friend and even free I found it hard to play, it just didn't enthrall me like I feel like it should have.

I found myself playing for maybe 2-3 hours, basically enough time to build and test each unit once and the quit.

None of the teams felt very well thought out or put together and half of the units felt gimmicky, like they were put there to just be silly and serve no real purpose. I found myself building a unit once and thinking, well that was a waste of credits this is only have as good as , I felt like there were about 4 units per team worth building.

Also the game didn't take itself seriously enough, I can appreciate a light hearted game, but it was like they wanted it to be taken seriously. it couldn't make up it's mind if it was all a big joke and tried to look like the real world, but using real nations and making the buildings look real or if it wanted to be a joke. TBH the new tiberium one and RA3 should have swapped art styles then they would have fit more.

all in all the game was mediocre at best, and coming from a series that had beaten out the tiberium series in popularity originally it was kind of a disappointment. I actually had my brother tell me to not waste my time playing the game. Which is crazy because we both believe that any game is worth trying at least once, even if it's for a laugh.

I didn't like it due to the forced co-op on each mission. As someone who normally turtles, the companion AI was annoying as they'd go off and kill stuff before I had got myself sorted meaning I felt like I was constantly being pressured to work faster.

I thought the game was quite good, and even though I felt like Pdizzle in the start, that only a handful of units were useful, I quickly learned during online play that just about every unit had a part, all depending on the strategy you used. To be quite honest, it's one of the most fun and well balanced online experiences I've had, especially considering that there wasn't an "End all" strategy for each faction.. People played all of the three factions in a multitude of ways, making every match rather unique.

Man cannons
Apocolypse tanks.
Ridiculously hot secretaries.

What is there not to love?!

I like it. But if ever there was a game meant to be played in multiplayer this is it. The single player campaign is crap. Don't know quite how many times I've been sloging it out the enemy only for the victory message to pop up because the damn AI won the game fo me. Makes me feel really cheated, like "hey, I was trying to play the game over here".

I hated the art style. I played C&C since the original my favourites being Red Alert 2 and Tiberium Sun. The art style that they took following shortly after Generals clashed horrible in C&C 3 and even worse in RA3 in my opinion

I snapped my disk. Sick to death of the game forgetting to tell me if my base was under attack. The last straw was the last mission for the allies where you need to take out the rocket, I was about to take it out and all of a sudden I look at the radar and there's only enemy dots where my base should be.

Half a fucking hours worth of progress = not happy.

That may not sound like much, but I'm married. I have lots of other stuff to do.

Yeah i've played and enjoyed the New Red Alert 3 quite much. And the expanison pack and the Commanders challange on the Xbox Live arcade make it worth wild.

But that's just me.

OT: Generals will still be my favorite

It was a fun quirky game if you've never played any of the older titles, while if you have... All your dreams are crushed as a mockery of all your wonderful nostalgia filled memories are smeared across the ground with awful gameplay and the wasting of awesome actors.

I fall under the latter, it's pretty much the same as the fallout mentality...

It's just way too different from RA2.

And for some reason, Red Alert 3 didn't last as long as Red Alert 2 for me. I used to be the king in multiplayer games in RA2, but RA3 was just too much. Way too much micromanagement instead of simple tactics.

I don't hate it, but it's by far not my favourite.

It isn't BAD by any stretch. It is, in my opinion, a very solid RTS title with a campy story and often hilarious units. I don't care for the multiplayer game much as I have never been all that good at the base building style of RTS game.

It has been all downhill for C&C after Red Alert 1. Pretty sure that's when Westwood got bought by EA.
This about sums it up right here. I've been with C&C since '95. Best games remain the first Tiberium and Red Alert. Sun was awful, C&C3 doesn't count as a C&C game, RA2 was alright, RA3 and Generals are both crap. Seriously, who came up with Generals?

Anyways, I played RA3 pretty extensively. The teams felt so under-powered. I seem to remember there being so many more units and structures in the past, and the teams didn't feel so bad to play.

I don't know, as Eclectic said, it's a solid RTS, but it doesn't fit C&C.

I played it a few hours and hated it.

The graphics looked horrible, the units were fucking dumb and the whole time I felt like I was playing C&C:Generals, the only difference being that Generals was actually a good game.
