i rember that mission, Rhino tanks vs t-rex, much amusment was had.

i also liked the soviet intel oficer, her blind faith in my command skills was touching.

"Yuri has taken control of Moscow, and two thirds of the soviet war machine, while all you have is a small outpost outside the city. his forces have activated the iron curtian and they are poised to attack. let me know when he's dead."

Ah, Yuri, that mind controlling s.o.b. Sigh... wish they didn't get rid of Psychic Troopers. Speaking of which, Whers my exploding Nuclear Trucks?
you like the radiation commrade?

i loved the Russian tanks personally, especially once they gave them individual voices.

"I cast a deadly shadow...."

EDIT: i'm not seeing much love for the allies yet.

Oh yeah, I used to spam my friends online with wave after wave of Nuclear Trucks and Desolators. Sigh... good time, too bad that all you need to protect yourself from those is just a couple of chained Prisma Towers or Tesla Coils with 2 Tesla troopers nearby. And than I had to bring out the Apocalypses... hehehehe...
10 elite Apocalypse tanks, + enemy base + iron curtain = shits and giggles.

Yep that's the plan Lord Harrab, also love to use IC to kill enemy troops. Well... only justified on packs of Yuri's Brutes, or w/e they were called.
weren't they the guys who flipped tanks with their bare hands?

Massed Conscripts+No enemy tanks=Game crash. Seriously I did that once. 10 barracks outside enemy base with flags in the enemy base. Massing conscripts. 8 barracks sending into the enemy base 2 on the defense. He coudn't kill 16 bastards before 16 more poped out. I win?

I have to say my biggest fear with this game was the addition of the Japanese faction. It just felt like they were taking an established convention that I had fallen in love with, and tearing it down to add some more to it. Granted C&C 3 did this with the Scions, and I didn't seem to mind too much. So I'm pretty sure my biggest fear is going to turn into something that I just enjoy at the same time.

I'll be sure the be thanking my Comrades as I destroy the two weak non-communist factions under the heavy treads of those lovely Apocalypse tanks when the game comes out though.

I liked Red Alert, but it was Red Alert 2 that really won my heart. It was just so much more fun to play, and for some reason the cheesiness suited it well. Yuris Revenge, seemed to take it a little bit too far, though I still enjoyed it. It's just that the missions seem kinda meh(and I kinda hoped to play as Yuri).

Red Alert 3 I'm look forward to, but I'm waiting on the reviews. That and I just got Fallout 3, so I'll probably be busy with that for a while.

It's funny, but after Dawn of War, and despite coming late to that party, every other RTS feels mediocre and 'done'. I liked C&C 3's NOD campaign, on the most difficult setting it was the only vaguely challenging and interesting campaign, but I DID appreciate the nice budget values that went into the live action cutscenes. Sure it's camp but I enjoyed it anyway.
I also like the original Red Alert, utterly despising the batshit bannanas Red Alert 2. Now Although I stand by that dislike, I think I'd play RA3, just for the cutscenes and shiny graphics they've got working for them. I mean come on, I need something to tide me over until SC2 and DoW2 come out. Co-op campaigns however DOES appeal, and in a BIG way, so I think I'll be getting it... when I get money :(

I dont like how cartoony the red alert games have become. Before, they were on the verge of being believable and realistic, now its just silly.

(and i wanted the Tanya from Red Alert 2 back, not this blonde airhead.)
No tanya? P*ss off i'm not going anywhere near that game--- SAKE IT BABY!

I remember Red Alert two's opening level - twenty giant blimps assaulting Liberty Isle, parachuters, grunts digging in in seconds... To me it was always a pretty cartoon'esque, or at least wacky/zaney game.

No more westwood? Yeah there's another reason, alongside Tanya's not being around anymore, that I would not buy this game.

Similarly I will not buy another age of empires game, though aoe2 was my favorite rts of all time :(
Tanya's still in the game, just her actress in the cut scenes have changed, so has her model in game, now she's blond. *Shudder* I'll be commanding Natasha and be happy about it.

No love for the allies? I have to admit I prefered Soviets as well, but you have to love the Allied Navy. Firstly because you pack that transports with APC's filled with men, meaning they could hold 25 troops per transport instead of Soviet landing force which could have a maximum of 5 men per transport.

Then the massive, slow moving incredibly destructive Cruisers able to wipe out the Soviet power plants and force the Tesla Coils offline.

All while being halfway across the map.

The Chinook was also very fun for loading full of Tanya's (in the custom game mode), land in an isolated area near the base and then sneak in and C4 the crap out of anything. (Preferably after you removed the Tesla Coils with the Longbow Gunships Helicopters)

The anti-air defense was also far superior, and I think the Spy deserves a special mention purely because of his accent.

...but when you look at it that way its like:
-APC's, anti-air, and a large boat

OR

-Invincibility, Mammoth tanks, MiG's and a base defense, a trooper, and a tank all capable of electrocuting a man so powerfully that his body jitters around in the air before bursting into flames.

Yeah, I know who I'm gonna pick.

Anyone who would fight for the allies? Anyone? No?

I'll admit though, I had a soft spot for the british sniper in RA2. Mainly because he was the only thing that stopped my opponenets from spamming Yuri's and Yuri Primes and attacking me with my own men. That and his cool accent.... Should of shouted 'God save the Queen' though.

I know exactly what you mean here, i dislike the idea of transformers, (robots in discuise) armies vs comunists vs allies.

Also i'v been replaying red alert 2 recently, and so long as the new tanya doesn't shout 'SHAKE IT BABY' il be happy with her (even if i dislike what they have done to her in the cutscenes) becasuse it gets to the point of 'I don't care that u need to survive or I lose say it ONCE MORE and you are trying to put C4 on that tesla coil....MIssion failed...restart...SHAKE IT BABY'

Also i love the allies, mostly for spamming GI's and doing human wave tactics, sure it doesn't feel the same as using conscripts, but the fact that they can deploy and parachute in makes it all Ok. Also spies.

I stopped buying the games at C&C3 Tiberium Wars. RA3 is the epitome of demonstrating the moneymilking syndrome in addition to complete disregard for actual fans of the series (like me).
