Red dead redemption mission problem?

so ive come across a problem in red dead redemption (yes i only just got it, sue me) im doing the missions to get the gatling gun from irish and ive done every other main mission the games offfered me because quite frankly irish mission's bore the hell outa me. Anyway i had just done the mission where i actually got the gatling gun and then did the next mission after it, where Marston tells him that it doesnt work...what? since when? have i missed a mission or what? honestly have no idea whats going on.

The Gatling gun has issues in that it is missing ammo. The next mission with Irish has you helping him get the ammo from Shakey and his gang.

Seth tells you there's no ammo in one of the missions for him, but I think it's easy to miss since he says it while you're shooting dudes.

ahh okay that makes sense...what doesnt make sense is that i did seths missions before i even met irish ...its still a great game but that one things kinda bothering me.

I had exactly the same problem the first time I did it, I think the mission is one where either John or Seth is driving a cart somewhere, and in the middle of a gunfight Seth just sort of mutters, "By the way, your gun has no bullets," or words to that effect, and you're a bit busy concentrating on not dying. For entertainment value, this was my reaction on talking to Irish:
John: "Now, Irish, that gatling gun doesn't work. I find that rather upsetting, don't you?"
Me: "Since fucking when!?"

I actually remember that now XD i remember thinking he was talking about the gun i was using to fight guys off even though i had 60 bullets left, and yeah that was my reaction too, ah well its not a game breaking problem, just a slight annoyance
