I've got it on PS3 and I've been riddling' no good scumbags (and a few unfortunate animals) with holes for about 16 hours straight. As far as the main story goes? Only just broken in my first wild horse and acquired the lasso. Now THATS longevity!

It's so incredibly immersive and I LOVES it!

Finding it a bit hard to get a good multiplayer experience though.

It was good the first few days (during the NA only release), it was full of people wanting to posse up. Only since the rest of the world got it have I been coming across this lack of wanting to join a posse...

But hey, just swing by the Red Dead Redeemers User group and hook up with some fellow escapists. I'm almost always on when not asleep or at work, and I'd be glad to posse up. ^_^

My brother made a snap decision 2 days ago that he desperately wanted a PS3 almost solely on the fact that RD:R has just come out. We ended up going to the local shop-zone-place and compared prices, then I said I wouldn't pay more that $100 because I was still wondering what the point of a PS3 was when we already had 5 PCs and a PS2, so he got incredibly pissed and got MW2 instead. I'm guessing he'll be bored of it in about 10 days.

The lesson: My brother's a dick.

Holy shit, I am near the end, I think and it has been simply amazing. Play it on a big TV if you can. The scenery is amazing, the combat is tight and challenging, the immersion factor is deep. Where it really shines is the random events. It feels like a real world. Plot is really cool too. Just when you think things are getting stale it changes it up well. Characters are awesome too. The main character, Marston, is much more relatable than Niko Bellic, I think.

I've noticed a couple glitches, but nothing that crashed my game or anything. The worst was when I went behind cover and suddenly appeared about 400 ft above the ground. Needless to say, I died. Only seen like, 3 though, so overall pretty seamless.

All in all, I highly recommend. Course, I'm one of those fellows who like deep stories and long games that take a while to start and all that. If you want to feel like a badass cowboy of the west, look no further.

Quick question, how many times do you have to shoot people before they die?

It sounds random, but I feel part of the spirit of the old western movies was people just dropping dead after one or two shots.

Ah, I didn't know that. I haven't played much of it online to be perfectly honest. I've been too busy playing through the single player mode. All I know is that the first time I went online, this random person started the Pike's Basin challenge and I went over to help him because I could. Later, while I was in the menu, some random guy shot me for no reason. I was basing that off my experience with the game. Sorry if I was incorrect.

Absolutely loving it since I got it yesterday, it is ripe with glitches though, as I knew it would be. It has been a developmental nightmare apparently so glitches were inevitable, but I have found to pretty crazy ones. Stage coaches and trailers both jump around like crazy and make loads of noise, un-drivable. And I was doing some mission for the first marshal dude, and it brought me throught this canyon with rope bridges. Only problem the rope bridges werent there. Although the AI thought they were with hilarious results.

I'm not really feeling the main character as much if at all, but shooting people of their horses looks and feels very good. You do seem to get a bounty on your head for the slightest reason, though. I was riding my horse and accidentally nudged a sheriff and I immediately have 20 bucks on my head.
The wastelands do feel a little bit to empty even with the random encounters, but I guess that's why the call it a wasteland. And because this is a Rockstar game you can't have even two lines of dialoge without America being critisized wich gets a little tiresome. All in all it's a good game, but it has a VERY mellow pace.

ps. Am I the only one who's feeling rather lonesome during multi-player? Is anyone even playing this game online?

I'm having a blast. The game starts out at the perfect pace and you slowly learn all about what you can do (Which is some of the most fun shit ever in a game!). I'm only 18% into the story but I already love it and I can't get enough.

And I can't even imagine how ed;lvj enbikjvbreslkbvrkejbniknbrdbrdbr awesome the multiplayer will be.

I was already enjoying it, but I was really hooked when I rode my horse at top speed through Armadillo, lassoed a random pedestrian, dragged him behind my horse for a few hundred feet, and finally hogtied him and dumped him on the railroad track as the train was coming. Ruined his day. =)

It feels very GTAish, which is no bad thing, it even has the same graphics as it, it's just a stale feel. It takes forever to get to anything, even fast travel takes forever to do, riding horses gets old really quickly.

I am get a bit sick of the formality aswell, Mr this and Miss that, just call each other by there first name.

I've done a few missions, done a little MP. The MP is like the SP, empty (so far anyway).

It's crazy good. I played it for 20 minutes at a friends place then went straight to my game store and bought it. Have been playing it all weekend so far It just does a really good job at all the things you want it to be good at.
Want to shoot a guy? Sure, no worries. But make sure you kill all those pesky witnesses! Hey, you know what makes that even more fun? Do it in slow motion! In sepia!
Essentially, this game is win.

Yeah, the realism is pretty crazy that way, in that people get pissed when you nudge them. I prefer it that way, but I can understand not wanting that in a game. I find that the criticism and cynicism is pretty accurate, especially for America in 1911.

Multi-player is having some glitches lately, people not being able to join games or being kicked right away. Rockstar is working on it, but it's pissing me off. I'd play with ya, but I can't.

The atmosphere, sound track, and voice acting are incredible. The graphics are very good however the character animations are incredible. The world is very large and feels alive. The controls are average and the gameplay, while extremely varied, is only an average for me. Overall I enjoy the game, and definitely don't regret buying it. It is worth the price if you are looking for a lengthy single player experience, which i was.

Multiplayer beyond free roam is HORRIBLE, however. Free roam is fun for about the first 30 minutes and about the first 5 times you play it but then you are pretty much out of fun things to do. The competitive modes are LAGGY and inaccurate and just not very fun though.

Does no one know about all the challenges to accomplish in Free Roam? There's TONS of stuff to do. So much, it's almost like an MMO. I actually found myself asking people to join my posse to help me find some wildflowers in bear country cause I needed someone to watch my back as I picked 'em. Trying to do it alone, I kept getting ninja-bear'd.

How the hell is a giant grizzly bear that quiet? lol

But yeah, there's lots of stuff to unlock and lots of challenges to complete. I think most people just don't know to check their journal in multiplayer. Probably because they aren't expecting something like this, thinking it to be a basic copy & paste of GTA IV's mp, which it is most definitely not. I know I was surprised about it. I'm almost done with all the ones for Free Roam though (after power gaming since launch), and I can't wait for the free DLC co-op pack, but I still have the Gang Match and Free-for-All challenges to accomplish. Gonna gets me some golden guns, partners! ^_^

P.S. The competative mp aren't laggy or glitchy at all for me. I was rather impressed actually. May wanna test your connection speed. /shrugs
