So Red Dead Redemption GOTY edition is for sale for preety cheap in my local gamestop and i plan on getting it (yes yes late to the party and all that but there arnt many games out that i want untill october so i have money to spend!) and i have played bits of it from a friends xbox, and bits of the online too. and i quite love the online aspect of it, love the fact that its like an mmo nearly in the fact that theres a giant map with people running around it setting up gangs and all that. Anyway i played that when it first came out and im wondering does anybody still play the online? im getting the xbox version.

I haven't played it online but I'm guessing people still play it. It's a pretty popular game.

Funnily enough I popped it back in the Xbox a week or so ago to play and got hooked again. It's worth every penny, and plenty of people still play. Just steer VERY clear from the competitive multiplayer. It was unbalanced at launch and now the gulf between the veteran players and noob players is impossible to close. Stick to free roam and co-op (which is the best part of the multiplayer anyway.)

I don't know about the online part. But it's the best game Rockstar has ever made (yes...even better than Bully. Bully is #2 in my mind, I'm probably not going to find much agreement on that). It's really something special. The story is great. It packs some real emotional punch. And the gameplay is pretty great as well. Rockstar games often have crap controls. Red Dead Redemption has that "press A to run, press it over and over to run even faster" thing, but it handles very well otherwise.

Also, some of the challenges (the Sharpshooter and Master Hunter ones in particular) are quite fun. I did a playthrough just over a month ago where I completed all the ambient challenges.

I don't know about Undead Nightmare, as I really hate zombies. People who are into that sort of thing seem to love it, though.

And I think the Game of the Year Edition has a hardcore mode as well. I may end up buying that edition just for the feature.

Yeah the competitive multiplayer is a killing field, but it still offer its own brand of fun.

I tend to stick to coop and run strongholds though.

Thankfully it`s just pressing A (or X) in online mode when you`re on foot. The tapping is just for horses and the sp.

Does the GOTY edition have DLC keys or is the content on the disk?

It still has quite a large number of players. Me and my girlfriend play online from time to time and I rarely see a map with only 3 or 4 players. If you have friends playing it with you, you'll have a ton of fun with the online mode. And in my opinion, Single-player wise, it's my favorite game of all time, so I would say buy it.

For the regular online sandbox mode there's enough people playing for it to be fun but you might have trouble getting games quickly in the other modes.

There are still plenty of players on multiplayer mode, it's still as fantastic as ever. Get it :D it's a fantastic game.

I agree with you! Bully was such a brilliant game, it's my second favourite rockstar game. My first is L.A Noire tied with Red Dead Redemption, but Bully was first in my mind until that came out. The wii version was awful though, the boxing took me hours. I'm so glad to have the XBOX version now!

Couldn't tell you about the multiplayer as I haven't touched it in at least a year. The single player however is well worth your time and the price of purchase on its own.

I wouldn't know, it's only on consoles. Which sucks becasue I kind of want to play it. I'm still not entirely sure why there was no port, or why there hasn't been a port since, but its annoying.

Goddamnit rockstar.

It does suck. I'd love to see what the game looks like on PC. It would probably be very easy, though. Dueling and using Dead Eye with a mouse would be substantially easier (not that it's hard with a controller).

I'm glad they have finally fixed it in max payne 3. I can play it like a regular game now :p
It gives me a little hope for gta 5. The movement drove me mad in 4 and red dead.
