Is anyone is playing this?

I'm enjoying it for the most part, though I much preferred Guerilla.

The Magnet Gun combined with the destructibility and repair gun makes for some amazing game mechanics... I just feel it's a pity that they didn't give you any freedom to fuck around with them, instead throwing hordes of annoying aliens at you.

Seriously, these aliens are a pain. Guerilla was all about finding ways to use the destructible buildings to defeat your foes, but this game ruins it by having the enemies hop all over the place super fast, often not giving you any choice but to just shoot them.

And wow, is this game ugly. Red-brown caves over and over and over. It's dark and gloomy all the way through - weird considering Guerilla had some gorgeous, epic vistas and structures.

Still - mechanically it's amazing and the magnet gun is officially the new BEST WEAPON EVAR.

What do you guys think of the game?

I haven't played it yet, but i'm worrying that it might not be as good as Guerrilla was.

I don't really feel like getting it.

I played the demo. It was okay, but I don't want to pay full price to play the game. I'll get it in a year or so.

It's really fun.

While it does stray away from Guerrilla's sandbox style of game and is more linear, it's still Red Faction. The destruction is still there, the crazy weapons are there, and I have liked the story/cutscenes so far.

I haven't played the Infestation mode yet or the Ruin mode, which i think is just a remake of Wrecking Crew from guerrilla.

Also no multiplayer? I played tons of Guerrilla multiplayer, but there isn't any in Armageddon.

I had a quick go at it.

It's... meh. Provides a sort of minimum baseline of fun but nothing more.

They obviously have no idea what to do with those nifty destruction mechanics. So they just give you guns, throw a bunch of utterly uninteresting aliens at you and call it a day. Speaking of which, the combat gets very monotonous very fast. Half the aliens can jump around on the walls or turn invisible, which draws out the fights something awful. Plus, most of the fights involve enemy spawners.

I do like that they dropped the sandbox. Guerrilla made you take a damn commute between each mission and the environments were boring. Also, I enjoy fighting in indoor areas more. Lets me make more use of the destructo-physics.

Those stealth aliens are so boring to fight. I hate waiting to be able to shoot things, just let me kill it!

I didn't like the underground direction they were taking so I haven't picked it up yet. But boredom may eventually get me there, or a steam sale. Whichever comes first.

I keep playing the demo. I'm split at the moment. It's seems to pace well and have awesome weapons and destruction but I keep thinking the fun will drain after three or four hours. I may wait for the price to come down a little, though I imagine the multiplayer may be dead by then.

It's a strange one, there's a few dull levels but they keep interjecting it was awesome ones. The Mech levels are a riot.
