I downloaded Red Factions new demo from the PSN yesterday, and I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much, but it was brilliant.

You know when you see a building that is being held up by a couple of support beams? Have you ever wanted to smash the beams down? Well with this game, EVERYTHING was destructible, and the after-demo-film shown how big the map was, and I would be quite impressed IF they did get that kind of definition on that kind of wide map.

Another thing semi-related to this was the opening film, it played like a film trailer, did anyone else notice? But it went beyond that, it got me thinking...Video Games have taken the lead in the entertainment business, and now it seems as if games are evolving. Now surely you have heard of MGS4 "heavy cut scene to gameplay ratio" and I didn't see that, I saw a game/film THAT I LIKED, so what if games and films are combining? Are games evolving so fast that games like Red Faction are going to be seen more commonly? im not complaining, don't get me wrong, but I would like to know the gaming future.

I do this to the building near the bridge with the 3 support beams in the ground below it. Throw three charges on the beams, one in the middle of the bridge and wait for a convoy of enemies to show up. Carnage ensues.

Got the 360 demo on the weekend. Giant walking robots smashing through buildings have never satisfied me... until now.

I'm tempted to purchase it on the strength of its armoured-car crushing robots alone.

I'd buy the game for the hammer alone. God its got such nice feeling when you swing it, at people or buildings.

My only complaint is limiting the amount of Demo charges placed at one time to 4, hopefully you can upgrade that.
Then again, tearing down a Chemical Plant just by passing through it with the Walker made up for that.

Another game that plays like a movie is BF: Bad Company. I found it to be really good. hey does anyone else find that Re Faction is a more refined/series version of Saints Row?(With explosions)

Red Faction 1 was fun (except for me having to use cheats on the last boss... 10 hp on the save right before the boss wasn't enough -_-).. The RFG demo was OK.. let's hope the game will be fun.. like Far Cry 2 on Mars!

Well that could be since it was they are both made by Volition Inc.

So more on-topic, I'm definitely buying this. And to a previous guy, yes you will be able to throw more satchel charges in the full game.
