I downloaded Red Factions new demo from the PSN yesterday, and I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much, but it was brilliant.
You know when you see a building that is being held up by a couple of support beams? Have you ever wanted to smash the beams down? Well with this game, EVERYTHING was destructible, and the after-demo-film shown how big the map was, and I would be quite impressed IF they did get that kind of definition on that kind of wide map.
Another thing semi-related to this was the opening film, it played like a film trailer, did anyone else notice? But it went beyond that, it got me thinking...Video Games have taken the lead in the entertainment business, and now it seems as if games are evolving. Now surely you have heard of MGS4 "heavy cut scene to gameplay ratio" and I didn't see that, I saw a game/film THAT I LIKED, so what if games and films are combining? Are games evolving so fast that games like Red Faction are going to be seen more commonly? im not complaining, don't get me wrong, but I would like to know the gaming future.
