Today, Red Steel 2 was released. I never got too far in Red Steel 1 because, like many of you, I found the controls fiddly and inaccurate and the graphics weren?t impressive, even if it had been a GameCube game, let?s be honest.
...
Red Steel is a different beast from the first one. Ubisoft have listened to the criticisms from the first one, and the invention of the Motion Plus, with some good coding, has removed most of the problems.
...
Overall: 8/10
Good solid fun, and a must have if your Wii hasn?t been turned on since Christmas. Red Steel 2 is better than the original in every way that I can see.
That's the main stuff, but if you want a bigger read, here [http://bit.ly/9EwiQX] is the full version.

Anyone else pick it up today? What I will say, that wasn't in the quote but is in the review, is that whilst the story pacing seems good overall, the missions are a little monotonous, but when done in chunks of 3-4 hours at a time, the game plays out well.

It's out already?! I thought it was planned for this holiday or something.

Well that's all good, shame I lack a Wii though. I still hope that PS Move means we'll have a port of this on the PS3, as it appears to be pretty damn good indeed. More eager for a lightsaber game though. Seriously Lucas Arts, what are you waiting for?!

OT: The new one is VERY different to the old one, but I don't know if that will make it any better. I haven't touched the Wii in a while actually.

It came out today in the UK, and I'm guessing the rest of the EU too. no clue about other regions.

No word yet on any port of Red Steel 2, or even what Move games Ubisoft ARE working on, I guess only time will tell.

Oh, and a lightsaber game will not actually be that good. No More Heroes is the best you'll get, because to get something like what you'd want, you'd need to actually be a skilled swordsman to play the game, whereas NMH lets you swing and generally do what you want for basic stuff (much like Red Steel 2), but if you want complex stuff, you just do slightly generic actions and it activates the moves for you. Doing a special spin block with a lightsaber on screen would have a relatively basic wii-mote move, just as Ryu throwing a Hadouken has a relatively basic button combination.

YES IT WILL LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!

*ahem*

I have no problems with that. I'll practice my sword fighting skills, just for the sake of cutting up people with lightsabers as cool as possible.

I'm really, really impressed by the change of setting. It's pretty badass how they did it.

Interesting, I liked the first one a lot, but it was definitely very flawed.

However, if it's been improved, I see no reason why I won't enjoy it. I'll buy it, but only after I've rebought Timesplitters 2 and 3.
I can't argue with buying TS first, but only if you spend your time playing through them whilst you save up for RS2 :p

Seriously though, I'm thoroughly enjoying it, and as @Pluralbles said, the new setting is fantastic, as is the new art style.
