A Hermit's Cave
Dum de dum de dum... raise a unit of principes...

Start a campaign going north... stomp through Gaul... slap up the German barbarians, swim across the Channel... good grief... same unit of principes?!

Yeah, so, anyone else considered the usually forgettable fact of... man, these soldiers must be going into battle with their Zimmer-frames!

Do you think there's a potential mechanic to take the age of the individual soldiers (or at least the average age of a unit) into consideration?

If I remember correctly, Black and White 2 did something like this. I think if a soldier got old enough they just died, so your armies would end up getting thinned out if you didn't keep training soldiers. However, my friend was the one that played B&W 2 so I may be wrong.

I took a unit of Triarii from the start date as the Julii to the end date and they had maybe 20 troops left in that unit and they fought in the last siege to take over the entire map, the legends.

I don't know about any game that factors it in, maybe Rome 2 will considering there going on about making your units more personal.

Frozen Synapse has made few soldiers in an RTS turned-SWAT very fun to play because it favors tactics and has abandoned economy management. Frozen Synapse is under the genre called Turn-Based Tactics.

I think though in the TW series the whole point is that those men would be replaced routine reinforcements, and in the case of princepes similar veteran units soldiers getting promoted to princepe status.
